Dr. Ishitani is on my child’s medical team and is the best medical provider we’ve had so far at Mayo. You can tell he is a family man because he exhibits outstanding bed side manner while my child is present, but will have the serious conversation with us with an understanding perspective. He is excellent with our child and has the ability to brighten her day in a less than ideal situation. My wife and I trust his judgement as he’s been amazing to our family for over 6 years. He’s also the only doctor on the team who listens to my wife’s and I medical concerns with our child.

I would never recommend Dr. Ishitani to perform any surgery on a child. I have seen three issues of his incompetency with two of my children. The most recent was a g-tube being placed. The g-tube was not in the stomach and she was fed and given medications into her abdomen. She had to undergo emergency surgery to clean out her abdomen and have her AP shunt externalized. We have now been in hospital for over a month due to complications and have no idea on when she will be well.

Dr. Ishitani was amazing with the work that he did on my daughter. I was scared with her only being 2 & 1/2 weeks. He reassured me that things would be ok & that he was going to take care of her. He was easy to talk to & made things understandable for me with what was going to happen with my daughter. She hasn't had any complications & is a happy healthy little baby. He always made time to see us when I had concerns or called with questions. He put my mind at ease and I was grateful for that.
