List of Peter C. Amadio's Reviews
best doctor ever
In 2003, I suffered a "flying leap fall" to my right hand. As a career pianist and performance educator, this was a blow to my deepest identity, as well as painful. The two top teaching physicians at OHSU missed my diagnosis and brushed off my constant pain. Finally, a physiatrist sent me to the Mayo Clinic, where Dr. Amadio showed not only the most medical professionalism I have ever experienced, but compassion for me as a person and a musician. After resultant hand surgeries and many hours of therapy, I have confidence that, while my upper end of performance ability is gone, I have received the best care possible. Dr. Amadio even required a blood test on my first visit. When I questioned why blood work was necessary for a fall injury, he responded that, "Musicians frequently experience the onset of other conditions first in their fingers or hands: I'm testing you for various other things." In months of pain in my home state, no physician ever suggested that, including the two top teaching MDs from our Health Sciences University, who insisted that I simply had a sprain and arthritis. Thank heaven Dr. Amadio was relentless and compassionate. I ended up returning to university study, completing two degrees, and even doing a Senior Internship in Palliative Music at Mayo's St. Marys Hospital in 2007. I give Dr. Peter Amadio highest commendation, and would trust him with the absolute care of my hands. A surgeon's surgeon.
I was there early for my appt and spent a lot of time with his assistant, although I only saw him for about 10 min. He was dismissive of my multiple hand conditions and inability to use both hands without severe pain. He was disrespectful of me and kept looking at his watch. I felt discriminated against due to being a 62 year old female. I think it's time for him to retire. I found another hand surgeon, who I've traveled even greater distance to see that is actually helping me get my life back.
With doctors like this, I have no idea how the Mayo clinic continues to keep its reputation. Arrogant, rude and unwilling to do proper diagnostic testing.
This doctor explained clearly and in terms that we could understand what my 12 year old daughter was going through. He comforted her right before the surgery and explained everything to her. ( She was so scared) I would highly recommended this doctor to anyone seeking a hand specialist, he did an excellent job with the surgery and my daughter has no pain and very minimal scarring. Thank you Dr. Amadio for you services.
Dr Amadio is a fantastic surgeon! very positive experience. I recommend him 100%
I can't emphasize enough what a wonderful experience I had with Dr Amadio and the Mayo clinic. I had consulted about 7 different surgeons (all of them in the list of the best surgeons in America). Dr Amadio was the first to really diagnose the problem, he also spent more than an hour with me on the first appointment explaining the pros and cons of having surgery. It was a 3 hour surgery and he was so incredibly meticulous and professional.I highly recommend him!
unproffessional arrogant, unethical treatment, staff incompetent,a very dishonest individual who should no longer be allowed to practice.lied multiple times throughout the course of my care.post -op condition of my hand much worse than prior to surgery,i have been informed by the fda he used materials not approved for hand joint replacement.this so called doctor gives promising surgical outcome prior to surgery, but when it does not turn out right this idiot runs.mayo needs to rid themselves of this over hyped moron.such a disgrace to the medical profession.you hear the term surgical revision quite often in this nasty individuals office.VERY BAD MEDICINE!!! patient beware!!!!
horible bedside manner,3 failed surgeries.incompetent support staff.dr.amadio tried to force a care contract on me,because of all the foul ups and multiple mistakes he and his staff made.i would not reccomend this doctor to anyone.he left me with a hand that is much worse and in horrible pain and will do nothing to correct the problem.do not waste your time or money on this nasty man.
3 failed surgeries on my extremity, support staff incompetent, horrible bedside manner, this dr.performs experimental procedures and tells you after the surgery he has never performed the type of surgery, his behavior is irrational and erratic after he fails surgery.tries to force patients to sign a contract to cover his mistakes.this man should no longer be practicing medicine.prior to surgery he states outcome will be good.i am now left with more pain and disabilty post-op than prior to any of the procedures performed by him and he attempted to pressure me into a contract which made no sense and has threatened me that i would recieve no care at mayo if i did not agree to sign it.mayo system is very poorly supervised.this man has been paid a sizable sum of money and i received the worst compassionless dishonest medical care.avoid this arrogant overated so called dr.all he cares about is the money a total jerk.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
