All this doctor does is REALLY mess up an operation on trigger finger. He messed up my hand SOOO bad, I had to go to Denver Colorado to have it repaired. He sent me to mayo’s rehab. The worst I’ve ever seen. Dr. Brian Carlson in second opinion started, no, Mayo Clinic can not do trigger finger surgery.. he’s right. KAKAR never touched the, BAD part.

The pain in my wrist was constant and I was having trouble performing everyday tasks such as shifting my car, turning a door knob, etc. due to an injury 20 years ago pursuant to which a bone was removed from my wrist. The local wrist surgeons wanted to perform a wrist fusion, which I was very reluctant to do as an active 56-year-old. Thankfully one local doctor had interned at the Mayo and recommended that I see what they could do for me there. Enter Dr. Kakar, who proposed a newer treatment using cadaver back tissue. After consulting with Dr. Kakar and another colleague, who both spent significant time with me, I elected to have the surgery. I am so pleased with the result, my wrist feels great and I am back to my active lifestyle. I am a big fan of Dr. Kakar and his team at Mayo, they were kind, and professional, and made me feel as if I were their most important patient. Highly recommend.

Dr. Kakar and his team are stellar, professional, and kind! They studied my records, took additional X-rays, examined me, then thoroughly explained my situation and options. He did three procedures on my right hand: on the CMC joint (trapeziectomy with dual tightrope suspension arthroplasty), on a trigger thumb, and carpal tunnel. Healing has progressed superbly; and the incisions were so neatly done that they are almost invisible today. I am sure his work on the inside is even more careful. Everyone at the Mayo Clinic was superb in their care for me; and when I thanked them, Dr. Kakar said, “You, as the PATIENT, with your positive attitude and following through with your therapy exercises on your own are a big part of the success in your recovery.” I guess I hadn’t considered my part, as the patient, in my own healing. It’s exciting that we as patients can be part of the Mayo team! :) I’m going to continue to do my part! (And I’m planning to return next year for the left hand.)

Dr. Kakar helped me with a very complex issue. He is intelligent, compassionate and always put a smile on my and my family's face. He is a very good doctor - best I have had in my life (and I've had more than a fair share with playing a physical sport).

I couple years ago a tendon in my right hand ruptured. Our local hand surgeon told me I needed a wrist replacement. I thought that was ridiculous! It was my finger...my wrist seemed fine. No pain or swelling. I saw 2 additional hand surgeons who all told me the same thing and I was scheduled to have wrist replacement surgery with the "latest" technique which involved a heavy-duty prosthesis that looked like a cross between a medieval instrument of torture and a garden stake. Since I was going to be seen at Mayo anyway, I asked to have yet a 4th opinion from a hand surgeon there. What LUCK! Dr. Kakar had just devised a much gentler technique that required a very tiny prosthesis and a far less invasive surgery. This was ground breaking. I had it (the "Calamari" procedure) done and it has been nothing less than amazing. I have full use of my hand, full range of motion, no pain. Everything is just A-OK still 2 years later. I am just so very grateful. Plus he is a great guy!

I was extremely nervous on approach to Dr. Kakar. My left thumb joint needed revision surgery (the previous surgery failed). Word of caution: DO NOT READ NEGATIVE REVIEWS. I did, and it did a number on my confidence with Dr. Kakar. He is EXTREMELY good. His approach is HIGHLY educational. He takes time to CAREFULLY instruct. His surgical work is EXCEPTIONAL. He's gracious, kind, and highly skilled at communicating in a way that made me not only understand what was going to happen, but in a way that made me feel comfortable. His staff was also exceptional. They were careful to help me with personal insecurities on approach, careful to instruct, and careful to walk me through every detail. I overheard Dr. Kakar working with a difficult dynamic while waiting for surgery. He is incredibly caring, incredibly careful, and remarkably patient. Surgically, he is unmatched in my opinion! I've scheduled surgery on my right hand in the near future. I could not say enough regarding his excellence.

I’ve had 6 trigger finger operations in Denver Colorado. 110% perfect ??. Now, one with this doctor. Minus zero. Disfigured finger. 2 Nd worst surgeon I’ve seen in 81 years. I doubt if he would be successful in cutting it off. Oh, same surgeon in Denver, 6 finger, 2 wrists , 3 shoulder .. operations . Perfect. OH, the trigger finger is still there. ?? with this guy.

once surgery was over with was told I couldn’t go back to my career I had been doing since I was 3 & he thought I had said I was done w it & apologized. I worked hard thru an ACL injury prior to get back & then the wrist injury happened. Still had the same pain, my PT was on my own Just add weight as could be tolerated. I had sent multiple messages to him w only replies from his nurse Who apparently never relayed them to him yet she stated that the dr said to wait or that pain is normal. Now a year out appt he suggested Berger ct scan, mri & A device for my wrist n it was $66. I sent a message again, nurse said yes he said to get it for support. At my last appt. he said it’s just a reminder not to do things w it-I had 4 other braces that do support it, was 2 hrs late, was training drs, n then sd well I compared left to right the 1st time & your left is dislocated too along w other torn tendons but not painful there so I chose surgery. PT pushed on a diff spot n shooting pain

I have had him for a few years now and would not want anyone else. He is very trustworthy,explains things very well and listens to me.

wonderful experience with doctor kakar. my finger is back working
