William Oliver Tobin's Online Review Report Card

Saw Oliver years ago and he was utterly incompetent and negligent. I had traveled to Rochester from Alaska to get a "chest mass" that showed up on a recent MRI addressed. During the initial appointment of my 1.5 week stay at Mayo he asked why I came, at which time I told him first and foremost I wanted to address the chest mass when he told me "oh that's nothing, like a vericose vein". I hung around Rochester for the required 1.5 weeks and at the departure appointment I asked what I should say to my local doctor who is telling his patients that they have chest masses when they don't. It was at this time that he actually looked at my MRI FOR THE FIRST TIME! He was able to confirm that I had a chest mass (which I already knew)just in time for me to catch my flight home. Oliver Toben is by far the most incompetent Dr I have ever seen in my life! Do not trust this idiot with your care!

Dr Tobin was inpatient and obviously irked that he had to stand in for a colleague. He neglected to include adequate instructions before testing and part of the tests had to be cancelled. He also refused to make necessary corrections on my labs. Not at all what I expect or have previously received from Mayo.

Horrible physician! He is extremely arrogant and will tell you he is certain of a condition and then is proven wrong with clinical findings. He is incapable of listening and tells you, you are wrong when you are explaining symptoms. He is incompetent and pretends he knows all the answers when he has no clue. He does not care one bit about patient care and makes it obvious he is only in his profession for the money. He will not respond to phone calls or emails. He is -10 for bed side manner, patience, listening skills, and ability to solve problems. I would rather see a PA or NP at the worst hospital in the country than to have a visit with him again. I gave him one star because zero stars was not an option.

The WORST Neurologist on the planet! He seemed to have no basic medical knowledge and ABSOLUTELY NO bed side manner.

Very unhappy, Dr. Tobin's staff took my medical records while I was talking with him - do not think he ever looked at them. Diagnosed me within 15 minutes after quick glance of MRI scans of brain. Had to talk with a co-op to have my data (symptoms, prior Doctor's MRI & Lumbar Puncture, prior Doctor's visits and incidents) in the Mayo system. Very unhappy - reminds me that even in Mayo Clinic the Doctors are human, and some of them are very poor like Dr. Tobin based on my experience.
