Hi, my name is Berhanu k Asres I have been working almost 3 Year it is the best hospital I ever worked so lovely to work with so I wanted to say thank you.
My son has been to the ER Several times and each time we've had a problem with them administering medications without my consent. I clearly told them not to give certain foods and to not administer certain medications and they went against my wishes and did it anyway. Who knows how many times I have caused Serious reactions for children. The manager of the ER is very rude and has very unacceptable behavior. Because my son is severely autistic and there's nowhere else for him to go it was held against me Unrightfully. They called CPS on me and I am his only Guardian and the only one that will take care of him due to his severely. What kind of organization is this that does that to a family. The only reason they called CPS is because I would not pick up my son because he needed medical care and the crisis home dropped him at their doorstep and I was not prepared to take him home when he was a danger to himself and everyone else. Do not take your mentally ill child to this place it is horrific. Staff was mean and rude and did not understand developmental disability.
No one wants to go to the ER, but it is nice to know that when you do, there are competent doctors and staff. Our son had a fever that didn't seem to want to go down or leave. At the advice of the nurse hotline, we brought him into the ER. I was expecting to be there for several hours. Instead we walked into a completely empty ER. Our son was triaged right away, and then we were sent back to a room. I expected the waiting to start then. Nope. We were seen promptly and all tests/procedures were done with minimal waiting times. My husband and I expected be there till midnight (we arrived around 7:30), but found ourselves back home by 9:30. The staff were all kind and courteous to us and were so gentle with our son. I continue to be amazed by how well pediatric nurses, doctors, and staff treat their patients compared to how we treat adults. They really took the time to listen to our concerns and put up with my nervous ramblings. I wasn't happy to be in the ER, but I was happy we went.
My 18 m o was having difficulty breathing. We visited the er a few times for this same sickness. The last time he had lost weight & wasn't doing well at all. He got admitted. While on the inpatient floor the staff went above and beyond to make BOTH of us happy & feel cared for. I was allowed to order food for me and they brought me coffee & pop. The children's hospital in Saint Paul truly deeply cares. I see it in every aspect of this hospital. I'm absolutely amazed at the care we received. I highly recommend this hospital.
In Aug 2018 our daughter went to the Er for possible appendicitis. The DO on staff in the ER did not ask about her periods, her degree of pain, did not palpate her stomach, did not listen to her lungs, and in fact treated our daughter as someone cognitively delayed (she is in a wheelchair but off to Rice University in the Fall so clearly not cognitively impaired. ) My sister was present for the last half of our visit. She is a doctor - and MD, not DO. She was insistent we complain, said she would fire the DO for his lack of care, and conducted an exam herself. They didn't even turn on her IV. I brought this to their attention really as an expression of concern over their lack of duty of care. Rather than hear our concerns they sent the information to "committee" over a $400 bill. I suspect many more hours than $400 worth have now been put in by hospital administration over this issue. We received a response today, 5 months after the visit that they believe care was delivered correctly and the issue is closed to them. I post this not in spite, but to let others know that the care we received at Childrens St. Paul was negligent and only because my sister had come to town did we feel comfortable returning home with our ill daughter otherwise we would have had to go elsewhere. This is an easy and clear case of simply bad doctoring by a DO in the ER at Childrens St. Paul. And their review committee has now reviewed themselves and somehow magically they think they did OK. I see a conflict of interest and no process to improve their care for children.
Can't say enough great things about St. Paul Children's, their staff, volunteers, and all the fun and amazing interactive activities they have throughout the facility! Over the last 4 days we have had many interactions with a bunch of Doctors, Nurses, and assistants and all have been very informative, helpful, and caring! Thank You Nate the PA, Joanne, Michael, Kat, and Sarah the nurses... honestly you were amazing!

We recently came here with our very sick toddler on Easter Sunday. We had never been to an emergency room with him before. We were triaged immediately and brought to a room within 5 minutes. The nurse was with us for about 5 minutes before we saw Dr. Christine Park. She was AMAZING. She addressed all our concerns immediately, explained things well, and offered awesome medical care, client communication and a great ER experience. She even gave him a fun toy when we left. We utilized their pharmacy (to get the meds filled quicker) and this was also very fast. Overall, our experience was amazing (for having to go to the ER). This is now our go-to ER for care. PS. We've also utilized their nurses line before and they are WAY better than our family practitioner's after-hours line for help!PPS Free valet on holidays! Woohoo!
My daughter came for an emergency appendectomy which ruptured. Our clinic did call ahead, so our wait time was short. The ER doctor we saw was professional, but also took time to connect with us. We had an excellent surgeon (Dr. Feltis). The nurses over our entire 11 day stay were amazing people who went above and beyond. They truly cared about our family! They always made us feel as though we could ask any question or make any request. No one ever left our room without asking "Do you have any questions?" And really expecting that we would! Our daughter experienced a setback on the day we were to leave, and her stay was extended. The nurse actually got testy eyed with us as the surgeon calmly explained what was happening and why she would need to continue to stay. We experienced dedicated volunteers, qualified child life specialists and overall a multitude of qualified, genuinely lovely human beings. I can't say enough about the quality care my daughter received. Such a traumatic time for our family, but the support we received was truly remarkable.
This place used to be the only place I'd take my children. Now, it seems to be the place I avoid. ER: Wait times are terrible, green light is supposed to mean a quick visit, however it took us 4 hrs for an xray, and dealing with extremely rude check in staff. Clinic: New patients now need to be registered, so do patients who haven't been there in a while. I left several messages with Michelle and waited several weeks for return calls. She is too busy to handle the load, or she just takes her time? I don't know. When you get there, you will find the front desk ladies on the 3rd floor from time to time have inappropriate conversations and can either be really kind, or unhappy. You never know what kind of day it will be. Wait time is not an issue in the clinic, they will get you in and out of there. Dr. Christine Park is wonderful, concerned, patient, understanding and she will hear you out and help where ever she can. She had a wonderful quick chat with my daughter about hitting puberty, and it really stuck with her. The nurses can be hit and miss but for the most part they are kind and patient. Lab: this is where your kids get poked. One lady was like trying to be patient with my kids but had a terrible time doing so. Children don't like being poked, lady. Sorry. For you and for these kids. Medical records: It took at least 3 months for my kids to be able to transfer to this clinic. Between the other hospital and children's it was a horrible lengthy process. You will have access to these records online now. HOWEVER... if you need a child to have their physical form filled out post-physical, and they tell you 7 days (why does it take 7 days to fill out a form?) you will be waiting a minimum of 7 days. And no, they don't care if your child is going to play a sport, and now has to wait. They will make you wait even longer than their normal time frame. So plan on that and do that ahead of time. Also, after the 7 BUSINESS days, don't call and ask what's going on, because they will transfer you 10 times, and then they will tell you it hasn't been that long, you will tell them it has, and they will further delay your papers, because how dare you expect them when you are told, and how dare they have any form of time sensitivity. When people hate their jobs, their customers/patients suffer. These people do not like their jobs. So, we will just go some where else and hope for their sake that they get treated better, or paid more, or whatever. They deserve that much.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
