List of Thomas E Grande's Reviews
I went to see Dr. Grande because I was experiencing an intense pelvic pain and I was having heavy periods, besides some hormonal changes. Without a proper medical examination (only a Pap smear), he told me that I was old and I had to deal with it. I was just 35 years old. After I felt insulted, but most of all ignored by him, I decided to see another gynecologist. The new one didn’t hesitate and order a pelvic and a transvaginal ultrasound. The results? I had three benign tumors. One of them was big and was misbehaving.
I saw Dr. Grande a few weeks ago for the first time and I have to say it was the most bizarre experience I have had in a medical setting. To begin, I had to wait 30-40 minutes in the waiting room to even be called back. Once Dr. Grande finally made it to my room, he asked how I had been and commented it was great to see me again. I had never met him before so it was a red flag that he acted like he knew me. We continued the visit and when I asked him to go over contraceptive options with me, he asked me to confirm I was trying to get pregnant. As an unmarried, 24 year old you can imagine my shock. I'm not sure if he read the wrong file before our visit or what but I felt like he had no idea who I was or what my reproductive goals were. Towards the end of our visit, he finally went through each of the contraceptive options with me and gave me a lot of information to think about. The whole visit felt "off" enough to where I scheduled a new annual exam at a completely different clinic to confirm his conclusions. As it turns out, he gave me COMPLETELY OUTDATED information in regards to IUDs and risks associated with the different contraceptive options. I have lost my trust in Metro OBGYN and do not feel comfortable scheduling another appointment there.
I was one of his "way over 65 years old" patients for surgery. He had all the time in the world for me -- he was EXCELLENT. I now possibly need another surgery -- and he is my first choice to visit. In all my years I have had only one other doctor who made me feel as Dr Grande did that they had time for me, answered all my questions and seemed to care for me. A wonderful feeling when in need of care!
I had seen several OBGYN's throughout my pregnancy, and by far Dr. Grande took the best care and treated me better than all the others put together! He had very helpful answers to all of my questions and made it an amazing all around experience. He is running behind sometimes but that is because he takes all the time he needs with his patients and doesn't rush you.
After waiting 30 minutes past my appointment time I inquired with the front desk. I was informed that he had been called off to surgery and that there were 3 patients already waiting in rooms for him. When asked why this was not communicated to his patients all I got was a blank stare back. When asked if I wanted to reschedule, I informed them I would NOT be coming back. Dr. Grande had a warm bedside manner in the hospital but his clinic staff are AWFUL!!
I've been seeing Dr. Grande for many years and I would never see another OBGYN again. He was not only extremely knowledgable, but also took the time to explain everything to me and answer all my questions even though he was running behind. He does tend to run behind a bit, but that's sort of the nature of the business being that he gets called out to deliver babies (Hello, OB clinic here). He is great about seeing me last minute when I have an issue, sometimes even staying later than his clinic hours just to see me. He is an amazing surgeon as well. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to see a knowledgeable doctor who actually knows his stuff and goes above and beyond to make sure I have the best care.
I am shocked by some of these poor reviews! I have been seeing Dr. Grande for 5 years and can't speak better of him. He performed emergency surgery on me for an ectopic in 2011 and at my follow up appointment he sat and talked to my husband and I as long as we needed, and even spent time thinking up questions we might have later - I've never felt so cared for by a doctor. Five years later, after delivering two kids with him, I have always felt he was very present in my appointments and never made me feel rushed. I schedule all my appointments with him first thing in the morning otherwise I end up waiting forever - but I have always reasoned that this is because he is taking his time with all of his patients and I can totally get behind that. Dr. Grande is old school, there is no getting around that. He isn't interested in delivering water births and he'll push for an episiotomy if he thinks you will need it. But I can't speak highly enough of his skill and calm, should anything go wrong, he is the guy you want by your side. He delivered both my kids and the nurses spoke so highly of his skill. Never in a million years would I have thought I would have seen a old man gyno, but after our initial chance encounter I felt so safe in his care that I never left!
I have had my share of experiences with doctors, but my time with Dr Grande was one of the worst. I started seeing him during my 2nd pregnancy. We didn't know we were pregnant until the second trimester. He was rude, always late and wouldn't stop to answer questions. The pregnancy was complicated by the placenta being in the wrong place. When he did his exams, he would always pinch parts of my privates with the speculum. It got to the point that I would be fearful of just seeing him
I was referred to Dr. Grand from my primary doctor and have nothing but positive things to say. Yes, he does occasionally run behind, but that is because he loves his work so much he always wants to help with any emergency situation, and when you are seeing him he takes his time to answer any and all of your questions. He saved my life! He diagnosed me with Endometrial Cancer and performed every procedure to without any complications. Here I am eight years later and would highly recommend him to everyone. If you are concerned about waiting to see him just know if he is behind its because he is taking the time to address his patients needs. I would recommend an early morning appointment. He was always available to me and followed through with my care at each hospital. Thank you Dr. Grand.
Dr Grande delivered my 2 baby boys in 1980 & 81 . At the time I was with Dr Westfall, he retired in my 6th month of pregnancy,1980, so on board came Dr Grande , I was a little nervous with a new graduate, but after a few visits, I had so much trust in him. I loved him, he gave me the best obstetrics care ever, especially how young I was in 1980 & 81 . I couldn't of asked for a better Dr !, I even got the chance to try out the birthing chair,,he told me ,it would be great to do, I loved it on my 3rd birth of my son. I left Mn.in 1982, & had to find a new OBGYN, but Dr Grande was the best!! Thank you ... :) this review was based on when I was being treated by Dr Grande for my deliveries. ...

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
