List of Kathleen Rieke's Reviews
I was having some issues with my epilepsy and the first time we met I was in the hospital for a test. I was immediately impressed at her politeness , knowledge and concern for my care. She has taken me through two medication changes which have been successful. I am so pleased to have found her!
Dr. Rieke is the warmest, most caring neurologist I have ever been to. She understands how epilepsy and migraines affect her patients quality of life. She takes time to sit and listen. Doctor Rieke is constantly trying to find Solutions to make life easier. She explains everything & writes notes to take home. I would recommend her to anyone with migraines or epilepsy. She also has caring nursing staff who are quick to answer urgent questions.
She's a wonderful, warm, caring listener who has helped me immeasurably.
I was extremely impressed! From the minute she shook my hand until the second we walked out of her office together, I was with ''a good friend who truly cares about me!" My disease is rare but she knew all about it. We looked at my old MRI's together, she told me what she saw and her impressions on what she saw. Now we have some major plans to move forward. Although it may include an additional diagnosis, she grabbed my hand and said "I'm here for you anytime and we'll get through this together''. I would suggest her to anyone needing a neurology workup, in fact I've already suggested her to nearly 8000 people!
She is one of the worst doctors we have had the displeasure to meet. She put our daughter on Depakote for seizure-like activity, unconfirmed by eeg's or mri's. When my daughter continued to have these episodes, Dr Rieke's answer was to continually up the dose. I mentioned I was uncomfortable several times with increasing the dose that high. During one episode, new symptoms showed up which were alarming, and we went to a local ER. I called her to tell her, and she once again upped the dose. We ended up being sent directly to the childrens hospital, where they took her blood level of the medicine and she had WAY too high of a level. And yet Dr Rieke had tried to increase it even more? This doctor does not listen to you. She is condescending, and if you question her, she gets a weird little smirk and tries to make you feel a little stupid for even thinking of that question. Our daughter did NOT have seizures, and what Dr Rieke did has left our next pediatric neurologists shaking their head. They said they would NOT have put a 1 yr old on that medicine, let alone such a high dose. One neurologist likened it to deciding you are going to drink for the first time ever, and slamming a bottle of everclear. She is rude, arrogant and frankly was dangerous to my child. I could not reccomend her less.
Prior to today, I would have rated Dr. Rieke as pretty good. Today, however, she refused to fill my son's anti-seizure medication because he hadn't seen her recently. I had scheduled an appointment for July 31, 2017 (earliest available), but she still refused and said to ask his primary care provider for a refill. This is completely unacceptable for a doctor who is supposed to care for patients and "keep them from harm" according to the Hippocratic Oath (if they indeed affirm this).
Today she refused to renew an anti-seizure prescription for my son because he hadn't seen her recently. I was told I had to contact my primary care doctor for a prescription, but he wasn't the one who prescribed it--she was! Totally unprofessional and uncaring. What about the Hippocratic Oath?
She looked at my son's blood levels from months ago rather than the levels from a few days ago.Thankfully I noticed, & she changed her mind as to what he should be taking. She also upped all of my son's seizure meds, even thought she was convinced he was having panic attacks, rather than seizures - why would she up his seizure meds if she didn't think he was having seizures? Why wouldn't she believe us since he's 18 & had epilepsy since he was 18 mths. We know what his seizures look like.
Dr Rieke and her nurse April are both phenomenal medical personnel. Non judgmental, understanding and actually seem like they care about your medical issues. After seeing a few doctors who treated me like crap it was a breath of fresh air to get connected with these two!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
