List of Cockerell & Mcintosh Pediatrics's Reviews
Would highly recommend this practice to any friends with kiddos. We’ve been going to Cockerell and McIntosh since 4/2022. At each visit with my daughter, the providers listen and discuss treatments and concerns. They give us great recommendations for changes to habits at home that can help with present condition, etc. We’ve had Dr. Murtaugh, Amanda DuMers NP, Natalie Kilpatrick NP - great providers!
I came from FL & wanted an office similar to the office in FL. When I walked in I was blown away by the mural in the hallway, bathrooms & each room. On top of that being so cool & me secretly wanting to become a patient myself, the front desk staff, the MA's, the RN's, the PA's & doctors were so kind, empathetic, loving. Everyone greeted me & my son even though they weren't taking care of us as a patient. I'm beyond pleased with this office & I think we found our Pediatrician!! Dr. Cockrell was our doc that day & he made me feel secure in his answers. I felt confident with what he was telling me & he's so good with kid!! My 1 yr old was excited about the cookie he got! Even after his shots!! Lol!! I can't wait for my other kids to see this office & meet the staff!! Thank you for making my 1 yr old feel comfortable!! I added 2 photos & the others were videos, but wow the woman that painted the murals in this office is AH Mazing!! The intricate details & how everything flows together blows my mind!! I even got her card to do my kids rooms & my basement!!
Booted my family as patients because my children aren’t fully vaccinated, after sending a threatening letter in the mail to our house. Never once mentioned their policy to deny us care in person the entire time we have been patients there. Extremely unprofessional.
It pains me to write this review. My family has used Cockerell & McIntosh as our Pediatrician since I was a kid (nearly 30 years now). We've known family friends working at the office over the years and love the play areas for our kids at this Blue Springs location. In January we lost some trust when we wanted to inquire about getting tubes put in our daughter's ears, as she has had regular ear infections this year. We were told she needed to be seen to say if she would qualify. We took her in, doctor spent less than 5 minutes in the room to tell us that her infections were too far apart and no ENT would qualify her for tubes...something they already knew and could have told us over the phone. While this was upsetting, it was not the end of our struggles. We were then charged $88 same day for the visit, despite my insurance not having a co-pay. While this was off putting, we obviously wanted our daughter to be seen, so we paid assuming we would be refunded later on for any excess. We later received our claim statement from my insurance claiming that we only owed $26 for the visit in it's entirety, and Cockerell had not refunded us the difference. Additionally, we had only paid $17 for a visit for our son that took longer due to illness. So something was not adding up. My wife contacted Cockerell to try to settle the situation and was told our daughter was also seen for "a rash" and her appointment was longer. The Dr documents the time, so it "can't" be a mistake. My wife had asked the doctor if a rash could result from the medication our daughter was on, but the doctor did not look at a rash, diagnose a rash, or otherwise evaluate a rash in any capacity. We decided to file a dispute with our insurance since Cockerell did not consider any of our dispute to them and our insurance was told by Cockerell that it could be another 3 weeks before we receive a refund, and that they document time with the nurse when they file their claims with insurance (the insurance rep informed me this is not correct practice). My insurance rep also claimed the lady she spoke with was very short with her. Maybe this is a problem with the receptionists, as we've never had any issues with the doctors or nurses at Cockerell, but after nearly 30 years, it stinks to have to go trust a new doctor because of poor customer service over the phone and at the front desk.
Went here for my first visit with my son. Was told my visit would cost nothing. Later they billed me for $93, which apparently I paid late because they sent it to collections then said I owed $18 more for my late payment. 6 months later called to make next apt. Took them 17 minutes to answer the phone so I could make my apt. Poor communication. I won't be back.
I’ve had several years of bad experiences with Cockerell and McIntosh in regards to insurance claims, billing, and recommendations for unnecessary appointments. The cost of most visits is outrageous compared to other pediatric offices in the area and the customer service doesn’t deserve a star at all.
There was a wait especially this time of year. My kiddo did not have a condition that required immediate attention wait was about 45 minutes until the nurse practitioner Casey was available and give us his diagnosis. Super nice and spot on. Thank you to everyone who assisted us.
Terrible front desk and office staff. They also are not accommodating. I have 2 kids and they always tell me I can't make an appointment on the same day and bring them in together so I have to take 2 separate appointments on different days even for wellness checks.
Kirby-Diaz and Amanda D. are amazing! Best pediatricians we've had!
I pay my copay at every visit I have taken my daughter there. On the day I’m trying to get an appointment for her due to nausea and vomiting for 2 weeks, they won’t make the appointment unless I put a credit card on my account for a balance I had of $20. A balance I was never billed for and was charged for after I had paid the copay in full. I will never go back there.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
