List of Harvey Serota's Reviews
Dr. Serota is an excellent cardiologist. He treated me very respectively and actually listened to me. He did not dismiss my symptoms, but he accurately assessed my health problems, and developed the treatment plan that included my desire to limit prescription medications and to utilize alternatives, such as vitamins and supplements. I believe that he has an individualized approach to his patients. I did not feel like a number to him, but he genuinely wanted to help me.
The office is run very poorly. I waited a very long time and then only received my lab results after many many phone calls. The doctor ordered me several medications without ever discussing my lab results. I am a still awaiting results from other tests and it was two weeks ago that I went to the office. I would not recommend this office.
Saved my life !
Dr. Serota is a terrific doctor. His mannerisms are not the typical primary care type of physician. It is obvious he maintains a full schedule but he answers all questions and explains any clarifications requested of him. His intuition in my case proved spot-on. I thought I was having coronary blockages or heart failure and within 10 minutes of meeting me and after reviewing my file and asking just a few questions he identified the problem correctly, pending further testing. Turned out to be sleep apnea which is what he told me he believed it would be during my first appointment. My heart was tested thoroughly and no issues at all. So this man may receive a phone call during your appointment but he's on staff at multiple hospitals and likely has to do so. Most doctors are in and out and he remains seated, reviewing your files and speaking to you. As a Caucasian I am not one to determine whether or not he is racist but it is extremely unlikely. The behaviors that reviewer described were similar, although exaggerated, to my own experiences. The only difference being I read up on him and did not assume it to be due to a bias towards me but rather his intense work load. I'd encourage anyone to look him up online and review his credentials. If you can find a more qualified cardiologist then go see them. I doubt you will. He is a very intelligent, polite and friendly doctor. His Granite City office also has at least two black employees that I am aware of and there were several in his Bridgeton office. I would not see a doctor I believed to be a racist myself. I don't believe it to be the case.
Very little communication stays on his computer the hole visit. This doctor isn't patient friendly at all.
he the homeboy
Only had a brief interaction, but he was very rude, unprofessional, and not prepared.

To the patient that said Dr. Serota was rude and racist, I Have to disagree. He is very professional and makes certain he covers all your health concerns and orders the appropriate testing for all. He was able to review all my results and put me at ease. I'm confused on the racist comment, because a lot of his staff at Christian Northeast (this is the office I see him at) are not Caucasian, they are Black, and the most polite ladies I've ever met. They are very professional as well, helping with any questions you may have with paperwork and scheduling appointments. A great group of professionals I would refer anyone to.
I was a new patient of Dr. Serota's while my Cardiologist was out of town. He was very rude to me. He never even said, "hello" to me. He talked on the phone to his daughter, setting up a spa date (through his own admission) for her for half of my visit. He's not cordial, personable, courteous, kind-hearted or sympathetic, all the characteristics and qualities that a good doctor should have. He's a heart doctor WITH NO HEART! He totally lacks bedside manner and rushed through my visit even though he was late but then again I could be the wrong ethnicity or color for him as he greeted and even smiled at his Caucasian patients and colleagues on my way out. He's a racist jerk and he deserves a '0' on this scale. The reality of this situation is that many doctors in St. Louis, MO. are like him and it's really sad and demeaning. If you are a person of color, please save yourself the trip to his office and your insurance as you won't be treated properly at all.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
