When I found out that I had prostrate cancer, I asked an out-of-town friend what I needed to do. His advice was concise: use a hospital that had a cancer presence; use a urologist qualified in oncology too; and find a surgeon who had done the robotic surgery 500+ times. He also told me that Dr. Mirza was the obvious choice -- and "would let him operate on me." It was a great choice. Before the surgery, Dr. Mirza was a great mix of truthful -- but encouraging and compassionate. My 3-4 hour surgery stretched to 7, but I came through fine. I am cancer-free for now. Since surgery, Dr. Mirza and his staff were fantastic. I feel very thankful about my choice.

Just a first impression. He is very factual, basically confirmed things I have heard before. Still the impression was positive. He obviously intelligent and is current with all the new alternative treatment methods available. He in no way appears to press his patients. He makes his recommendation but will support and respect the kind of treatment his patients prefer. Aside from that at age 39 he is at the height of his mental and physical abilities.

Dr. Mirza is very professional. He gave me options concerning my condition and made me feel at ease during a difficult time in my life. I already have recommended him and will continue to do so. He performed robotic surgery on me and I was very pleased.

Dr. Mirza and his team seem to be very busy, but when you are at the best hospital in the area that is to be expected. Everyone was very helpful with informing me and family of the situation, possibilities, and outcomes. Dr. Mirza helped ME come to my own decisions about my treatment without being pushy and respected them. I had a fairly difficult procedure completed with a complication that was NOT due to Dr. Mirza or his team. They still did everything they could to help me through and involved other departments for care and advice. Dr. Mirza had to leave the country during my extended stay and left his personal number if questions arose. Dr. Mirza still checked on me several times during his leave. The KU hospital is an efficient team with patent care as their first priority.
