I was disappointed in my visit. First, I had to request being assessed for shoe inserts, finally conceded and did the molds, but then I never heard from the office again until I initiated. More concerning was that the doctor made comments like "I am not concerned about your weight- it doesn't bother me" followed by multiple references to being separated from his wife and even looking for a place to live due to the separation. When I followed up on my inserts I was informed they had not submitted it to insurance yet (after 6 weeks). I was clear this was unacceptable and that I needed to hear back from them ASAP. I also informed the clinic manager about the behaviors in the appointment. What I received was a letter terminating me as a patient and informing me they have contacted my insurance company. No apology for stating things that made me feel like I was being hit on. No attempt to address the lack of medical care. If it wasn't his intention to hit on me then perhaps I should have had no awareness he was separated or looking for a home.

I had surgery for arthritis of my left big toe. I was VERY nervous and scared before surgery. Dr Shemwell was very kind, caring, and reassuring! He even gave me his personal number in case I had any questions or concerns. He even personally called me the day after surgery to check on me.
