Mary K. O Dowd's Online Review Report Card

I have been going to Dr. O'dowd for over 10 years and I am very satisfied. She is very dedicated to my health and very helpful.

My first visit with Dr. O'Dowd was very informative. She is very friendly and thorough in her questions. She explained some test I had done and told me what to expect. Her staff were personal and friendly. She took a full hour with me. I would recommend her to my friends.

My husband and I have been twice at Dr. O'Dowd's office and we are very disappointed with her service, the receptionist gives appointments at certain time and then when you are there ON time, Dr O'Dowd does not show until 30 minutes after, the worst was last Wednesday when my husband when for a check up, his appointment was at 1:45pm and it was 2:30pm and she had not appeared. He asked the receptionist about the dr and she said that she had an emergency and that she left?? Suddenly a few minutes later she appeared and only saw my husband for 5 minutes, she didn't even do the full checkup or anything! I do not recommend Dr. Mary O'Dowd as a PCP!!!

I have been a patient of Dr. O'Dowd's for many years, and she's a very caring doctor who listens and spends time with you. I have never felt rushed as she is wonderful when it comes to taking as much time as you need. She is excellent about calling with test results or answers to questions.

I have not had the problem with long waits described above and have always been seen within 15 minutes of my scheduled appointment time. I feel as if Dr. O'Dowd is thorough and gives a good physical. I find that she listens and answers questions forthrightly. I am very comfortable in her care. She is good about reviewing information sent by specialists and asks good questions to coordinate treatment. She communicates directly with other providers.

I have been a patient of Dr. O'dowd for over 20 years. She has always returned calls in an appropriate time period and scheduled an appointment immediately for any acute problem. Very short waiting time and gives adequate time to ask any questions during scheduled visits.

Dr. O'Dowd is the worst primary care physician I have ever had. She has no bedside manner and is very judgmental. She blamed all of my problems on my weight and told me I would feel better if I lost weight. Completely ignored my concerns about depression (just exercise!) and stomach issues (just exercise!). It turns out my medication had a weight gain side effect, which was fixable, and I have gluten intolerance, which she never investigated because she just assumed I was fat and lazy. The office itself is a joke too. When I was between psychiatrists, I called the office and asked if they could write a prescription for the anti-depressant I'd been on for 8 years. The secretary sent the prescription to the pharmacy without Dr. O'Dowd's permission, which apparently is a big no-no, and the prescription was never able to be filled and I ended up suffering big withdrawal. Dr. O'Dowd also never filled permission paperwork for a surgery after saying she would. If you've got a choice in physicians, go somewhere else.

I waited in the exam room for 30 minutes and decided at that time, this Dr. clearly values no ones time but hers. She asked as I was exiting the room if I were leaving and offered no apology or explanation for the unacceptable waiting time. I might ad this was the same experience with waiting when I went to her office before. Needless to say, I will be looking for a different Dr. and very disappointed St. Luke's has lowered their care. I see why my GYN went to another hospital

Dr. O' Dowd truly listens to patients and attempts to understand their issues. Her staff works to create access when you need support between regular meetings. This is a low tech, high touch practice. Yet, very patient-centric and evidence-based.

Dr. Odowd is an intelligent woman, but she does not have a good bed side manner. She accused me of lying and is very cold. Her staff do not code things correctly and I often have to call my insurance company to clear up confusion.
