List of Thomas E. Niesen's Reviews
I had hernia surgery in 2007 for inguinal hernia.I have lifted many heavy objects in the last 15 years and I will say Dr Niesen did a fantastic job.He is a genius.Highly, totally recommend him.God Bless you Dr Niesen.
My experience has been exceptional. Dr. Niesen performed a Hiatal hernia surgery on me. It was at a very serious stage. Recovery is slow, but his office has called to check on me and if I have questions, they have been so kind.
I never wrote bad reviews. But it can help others to make decisions. Just want to write my experience in ablation procedure on both legs. They were done in different time and by different doctors. Both supposed to be free of charge. The first one was done by Dr K Desai on the left leg..He did it alone and completely free of charge. No problems with this leg for 10 years, thank you, Dr Desai! The right leg I did near home at St Louis Surgical Consultants. The same operation, but everything was different, Dr Niesen is not easy to communicate, there is no his name even on my papers! He did operation together with 2 assistants! May be because of this I was charged 500 dollars! ( anesthesia) Nobody told me upfront about this big charge, I would not do it for sure. After operation my vein was still popping. After 1 month I went to see a doctor. No such thing, his assistant, I think, Michelle, examined my leg. She said, the vein is completely fine and closed! It’s just another one now! That’s it: no suggestions, no help, no nothing! And yes, I lost 500 dollars ! Doctor Th Niesen almost didn’t exist, but for sure didn’t care at all. After 2 years now I am trying to solve this problem at another place, it cost me a lot, but I hope, everything will be done right, New doctor has terrific personality and great reviews, we will see! So, be careful choosing this doctor. There are much better choices around.
Dr. Niesen has done surgery on me three times, hernia repair, gallbladder removal and aortic aneurysm repair. Which save my life. He is a great surgeon!
Vet thorough and professional; will answer all your questions; excellent surgeon
Dr, Nieson has performed two abdominal aorta surgeries on my husband. We love him. He keeps you informed immediately of the results and progress.. He is also the nicest person to deal with, I have utmost confidence in him. We would highly recommend him.
I don't like writing negative reviews but the public must be aware of what Dr. Niesen did to me during surgery. I went in for a standard hernia repair and laparoscopic procedure. During the process Dr. Niesen ripped my spleen in half and had to cauterize it to make it stop bleeding. I lost 800ml of blood and had a collapsed lung. They went out to my wife to start a transfusion and asked what her blood type is. What makes this worse is what the doctor did after the event. I had to get pulmonary assistance for a month and the doctor never told me exactly what happened. In fact he appeared to try and conceal what happened. I was lucky enough to have an honest nurse to tell me the real facts. Then he took it to a new level and blamed my anatomy as the reason! He never apologized or explained what the truth was. I had thousands of dollars of additional bills and his office was not even courteous enough to retract their charges despite the malpractice. The nurse said he was in a hurry and running behind schedule, which is why he ruined my spleen. I will now have to take medicine to address the loss of my spleen. Beware!!! He has good reviews but I promise this is the truth.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
