I've struggled with anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem most of my life. Unfortunately, depression runs in my family. A year ago, after a long period of failing to cope with the losses of employment, family, friends, I was fortunate to find Dr. Joan Heller. Words cannot adequately express my appreciation for her kindness, gentle nature, and wisdom.

Strongly agree with the comments here. My husband and I saw her for couples therapy. We were both reluctant participants but were at the point where we were ready to separate. Five years later, we are still together and frequently use the information and communication skills we learned from Dr. Heller.

Dr. Heller is knowledgeable and very compassionate. She is really good at making you understand why a certain person acted the way he or she did. She quickly identifies when you are delusional or have mistaken conceptions of your own worth or abilities. She is an expert at coming up with solutions you had never thought of.

Dr. Heller is very skilled and very compassionate. She was an excellent therapist. I think she was particularly good at dealing with a reluctant participant and moderating confrontation for a successful outcome.

She's a psychologist, not psychiatrist, but there was not a category for psychology. Nice lady, fairly easy to get into as far as appointments. Always on time.
