Dr Scott Kitchel saved my life with a neck fusion repair from a previous fusion done incorrectly!

This is weird but I was just telling my kids about the dr that saved my life so I googled and here we are. When I was 15 Dr Kitchel performed a scoliosis surgery on my very twisted spine and took my curvature from about a 58% to a 17%. Because of him I have had a life with minimal pain. Because of him I was able to get married and have a family. Because of him I’m still breathing. This was 24 years ago and I’ve never forgotten him. Thank you Dr Kitchel.

the worst doctor I have ever been to, he has denied me the health care to fix my back problem and the injury is now worse

My awful experience with this guy was 15 years ago. I had no idea i could post reviews then. When I saw him, he was certain of a 94% surgical success, but he messed my back up for good and it ruined my nursing career. I've lived since looking 50 years older and always hunched over with a walker, in pain and requiring a pain pump to function daily. There's numbness and tingling in arms,hands, legs and feet. The he lower and upper discs became bad. The bone graft donor site has always hurt after the infection following surgery while I stayed in a nursing home for rehab. Later I found out this surgey wasn't necessary. No tissue was sent to pathology after surgery. There were complications because he made a lot of mistakes and I nearly missed getting disability income. He didn't return phone calls me or the nursing home.So i suffered needlessly. He never remembered my name, age or accurate medical information. No phone calls were ever returned to The nursing home or me. So medicines and wound treatment weren't done correctly.He never stayed longer than 5 minutes in the office or answered my questions. The nurse told me to walk 7 miles a day. I couldn't walk!

very pore knowledge on knee evaluation for a third party independent evaluation only spent 10-15 minutes to make up his mind L&I denied my claim . couldn't even get my statement right or my job title. Seemed as if he didn't give a rats dam about any thing I said or presented to him

You cant do an independent ME on a workmans comp case that ac cured out of Oregon on a shoulder if you are a spine surgeon, and most IME's spend at least 1 1/2 on a patient. you spent 15 min on me and had been drinking!

Ruined my hand for life by lack of common sense. .

Dr Kitchell is an awesome doctor and is VERY EFFECIENT IN HIS WORK!!! He was my mothers spine surgeon and she had no problems after her surgery!! Very kind and understanding doctor!!!! I would recommend him to anyone who needs surgery!!!!!!!!

I got injured on-the-job and developed low back pain and neck pain which required a cervical spine fusion. The fusion never healed even though he said it was good and I had to go to a neurosurgeon to have the fusion redone. After he performed surgery I developed a swallowing problem that kept me in the hospital for 8 days (normal stay for this operation is an out-patient with no hospital stay). I actually had to call a throat specialist while I was in the hospital to discuss this issue because Kitchell didn’t know what to do. 11 years now post-surgery and I am still not able to eat sandwiches, steaks, and most other foods due to Kitchell’s poor surgical skill. I have had the Heimlich maneuver performed on me at least 3 dozen times. Worst bedside manner that I have every experienced. Worst record keeping that I have ever seen as his notes did not relate to what was done and/or said during office visits. Would recommend that anyone thinking of seeing this person (or having an IME) to run in the opposite direction as fast as you can.

The surgery was successful, could have been better but a competent doctor none the less. His surgical team was compromised of capable individuals who all performed as required. I thank them all.
