Excellent physician and very professional staff. Highly recommend!

Dr. Michael's office is booking his appointments three months out. He is unavailable to walk-in patients. His nurse practitioner is useless. You can try to message him directly via the MyMercy app, but a Mercy office representative may intercept your message resulting in the doctor not receiving it all. My spouse was in debilitating pain when they went to see him. A snafu occurred with the scheduling and their appointment was lost and they were denied access to Dr. Michaels. My beloved cried. They screamed from the pain. They begged to see their PCP (Dr. Michaels), but they were told he was booked solid and couldn't spare fifteen minutes! They could see the nurse practitioner but they would have to wait an hour and a half. Once my spouse got in to see Dr. Michaels, a month later, he misdiagnosed them. Then he blew them off. If you are looking for a doctor, keep looking. If you are a current patient consider switching.

The reason for my review is the turn around time for prescriptions to be refilled is lengthy and unacceptable.Us as patients depend on our physicians to call in our refills in a timely manner so we can take better care of our health issues!

Careless doctor always writing me off or shoving me on his nurse practitioner, tell him I’m in the worst pain of my life and he tells me he will refer me to someone an hour away that won’t even be able to help me today. Careless about almost every issue I’ve had. Contradicts himself constantly. Suggests medicine that doesn’t even help and actually causes terrible side effects and he says sorry you can’t tolerate it. Absolutely useless.

My husband and I both saw Dr. Michaels and are very pleased with his compassionate, caring demeanor. He took the time to listen and extended resources to help both of us. Will definately be using Dr. Michaels as our PCP!

Although not his usual choice of medication, he was willing to work with me on an alternative hypothyroid medication (Armour, prescribed by a previous doctor) as long as my blood levels are in healthy range and I feel well. I have really enjoy my relationship with Dr. Michaels. He is thoughtful and courteous. I love our dialogue. He makes you realize that it is up to you to eat well, exercise, and follow his protocols. Dr. Michaels can lay the groundwork but you have to do the work. He is not a doctor that will just prescribe medications. St. Louis is lucky to have him.

My husband, Gary, and I have had Dr. Michaels as our primary care physician since moving back to Missouri in 2010. We feel very comfortable with both he and his staff. He is always available and is not stingy with his time when discussing our concerns.
