After struggling with sciatica pain for over a year. I made an appointment with Dr. Basho. He was able to diagnose the issue and suggested surgery. After surgery, I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. I’m back on my feet and walking daily without pain.
When I came to see Dr. Basho I was in a wheelchair and couldn't walk. I had surgery about 6 months ago. I am doing great and am pain free! I enjoy kayaking and can enjoy my life. I couldn't ask for better results. If you are considering back surgery, I recommend Dr. Basho.
I was referred to Dr. Basho by my primary care physician after experiencing significant back and leg pain. Dr. Basho discovered I had a herniated disc and immediately got me some injections and pain relief while I considered surgery. When I decided I was ready to move forward with surgery he got me in quickly and performed the surgery without any issues. He kept me informed every step of the way and I am now pain free. I couldn't have made a better choice.
Dr Basho and staff are great!
Dr. BASHO gave me the ability to have a pain free future. He was truthful about everything and I would recommend he to anyone. So thank you Dr. Basho for everything
Carefully explained the gravity of the situation with cervical spine stenosis and lumbar spine stenosis, & why cervical must be fixed first. Went over treatment options, likely course with & without surgery, pre-, intra-, and postoperative care in terms we could understand. Wasn't offended by any of our questions & stayed as long as we needed to get through them all. When leaving, gave my husband a hug, stating, "I'm so sorry you're going through this; we'll work with you to feel better." Ashley, RN, took care of all scheduling, coordinating with our primary care provider, and getting us in asap. They are all so personable, professional, and caring - God brought us to this surgeon and his exceptional team. I'll update postop.
Dr. Basho is a very good doctor! He took care of my neck pain. After my neck surgery I am back to new again. Absolutely deserves 5 stars!!
When we first saw Dr. Basho we were impressed and felt comfortable moving forward with surgery with him even though we anticipated some possible complications given our history. He took all the necessary precautions but once the complications started he threw in the towel and REFUSED to see him after multiple requests for an appointment to discuss options. He just told us we needed to see infectious disease and pain management. I know surgeons operate and don’t want to deal with any complications but I have never seen a physician just give up on a patient and refuse to see them. Even when the pain management physician called Dr. Basho he told him sorry not my problem anymore. I know several other people whom Dr. Basho operated on and things went beautifully and successful, but if you have any complications be forewarned he will drop you without a second thought.
Was referred to Dr Basho by my Chiropractor. I went to him but only saw and spoke with his assistant. The assistant referred me to the pain management doctor at Hannibal Regional Hospital (another mistake), which was a horrible experience. I ended up going to University of Missouri Spine Clinic. They actually talked with me and performed surgery within a couple weeks of the initial visit. Very satisfied with them.
Dr Basho does amazing work. I had been in pain for so long that sleeping was impossible. I couldn't get in my bed. I slept sitting up in a recliner for at least 3 years. Now I sleep in my bed and have a more active life. Thank you Dr. Basho.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
