I wish that I could give Ignite Medical Resort in Kansas City, KS more than five stars. On 11/13/21 my 92 year young mother fell and fractured her right hip and required surgery. She was transferred to Ignite on 11/17/21 and thanks to the wonderful, highly trained, and people friendly staff she was able to come home today. I wish that there was a way that I could increase the SIZE OF THESE STARS because you deserve it. And CURTIS thumbs up to you BUDDY for being so nice from day one. Thanks for the strawberry shakes! Before I go I would like to say thanks to HEATHER. She made a special trip to the car to say goodbye to my mom with a big hug. You go way beyond excellence in patient care. THANKS!
If there was less than 1 star i would certainly give it to Ignite. This was the worse Rehabilitation Facility I have ever seen. The food was horrible - I would wait 3 hours after pushing the button before someone would get there to take me to the bathroom. I would beg for pain meds and would wait at least 2 hours after the meds were due. Staff was rude (except for the Physical Therapists). I constantly heard the staff complaining about being overworked and underpaid. The staff would talk about being late because they wouldn't do anything to them and they didn't need to go over report - no big deal. My husband bought beautiful flowers for me at the hospital gift shop ($60) I demanded to go home because of the lack of care I was receiving. I was dismissed and they loaded my car before taking me down to leave. The flowers never made it to my car - they were beautiful and who knows where they went or who got them. I suggest to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!
I put a call into Curtis the director of hospitality tonight. My bed has been broken since I got here on Nov. 30th, put in 3 work orders as of this posting, nothing. My blinds don't work, nothing.I asked for barrier cream Monday, it's Saturday and haven't seen any yet.Last night I needed some imodium due to my condition of chronic diarrhea, never came.Tonight I needed imodium again, my call light was on for at least 30 minutes, I could hear someone talking out in the hall so I went to see where everybody was...THEY WERE STANDING AT THE FRONT DESK TALKING LIKE THEY HAD NO CARE IN THE WORLD! WITH MY CALL BEACON RINGING IN THE BACKGROUND!!SERIOUSLY?!? I've had it with rehab facilities. I'm going to gut it out because I only have a few days to completc my stay.
Ignite Medical Resorts at KU was a very pleasant surprise because it was more like a resort than a medical facility. By this I'm not saying their medical facility and people they had working here aren't up to par, they set the bar with their excellence. I have worked for years in nursing homes and other medical facilities and I wish Ignite Medical Resorts had been present at that time, prehistoric times! I'd like to thank the staff that I worried so much for cookies and other snacks. I would like to commend the therapy group, although they "tortured" me daily the end result was more than worth it! :) I would like to thank Curtis for introducing me to the salted caramel milkshake from Five Guys, I have since Google'd to see where the nearest location will be to me so that I can order more. IF I EVER need rehabilitation services in the future, I would gladly insist that I return to 3910 Rainbow Blvd.
a place that obviously only cares about the $$. Full capacity but horribly understaffed and the staff that is there doesn't seem to care much at all if anything gets done. Call buttons ignored to the point that the staff comes in and just turns off the light and then disappears. Meds are not given anywhere near on schedule, if at all. No departments communicate with the other. Total chaos. Wound care not done. Nearly every patient there with the same complaints.
Like everything in today’s society we weigh the pros and the cons and when you find a place where the pros out weigh the cons you have a winner and Ignite KU, is exactly that. A WINNER!Nothing fancy about this place but the care from the nurses and therapists is on point. It’s a nice family atmosphere where most employees have a passion for the job and empathy for the patient. Would I recommend Ignite KU , most DEFINITELY.
I understand that the health care industry is experiencing a lot of problems, but there is no excuse for the complete lack of care and professionalism in this place. There is no where close to enough staff, and with the exception of a couple of nurses, maybe one med tech and cna, it seems like the staff just doesn’t care about the patients. It has gotten much worse recently. They have nurses using vulgar and insulting language towards other staff, family members and patients at such a high volume that you can hear it in your family’s room. Call lights go unanswered for up to an hour. There are people screaming in pain, but nothing is done about it. I even saw a nurse use foul language toward a paramedic when he disagreed with her assessment. I’m going to try to find a better place for my friend to recover, and I will make sure that everyone I know doesn’t send their loved ones to this facility. They need to find a way to get and keep better workers to take care of the patients! I only wish I could give zero stars.
This place needs to be reported and shut down. The staff cares nothing about your loved ones! The staff is only there to collect a pay check. The front desk doorman/security was asleep on the job 2 out of 3 days I visited. You have the staffing supervisor asking visitors their opinion on CNA's not wanting to work the weekend shift and take care of your loved one. I was face to face with 4 women and the male supervisor who laughed and joked about not wanting to work on the weekend because one had a party to attend, one straight out said she doesn't do weekends regardless. What kind of people do you have staffed at this place!!!! You are in healthcare to help people or so I thought!Call bells go unanswered for 20-60 minutes. It takes the nurse anywhere between 4 and 6 hours to return with the medication, patient's meal, etc. This place is a joke! You don't deserve any stars! ...
I had a friend who ended up in this facility to recover from the impact of Covid after leaving KU Med Center. It was a horrible experience for her and I was called by a mutual friend in another state to go and see what what going on with her care. She had not been checked in 12 hours. I had to stay and ask over and over again to get cleaned up and get a Covid test so we could get her released to go to another facility. The people who had loved ones there seemed to be fairing much better. I will be filing a formal complaint. My recommendation is if you have to use this facility is to make sure you have someone in the family or a friend staying with the patient.
The care and treatment I've been receiving is top notch
We would like to thank Ignite Medical Resort for taking such great care of our father. The experience was incredible and the care went beyond anything we could have anticipated. He was treated with a consistent level of respect, dignity and the staff was incredibly patient with him during his recovery process. Thank you Ignite Medical Resort.
This place is worth using for your recovery transition. The activities and the therapy exercises are involving. In fact, the various things they offer to keep patients active are perfect for those interested in staying and feeling young. I highly recommend this place.
The staff are compassionate, professional, and easy to work with overall. They are readily to assist with any concerns to ensure your loved one's transition to recovery and stability as smooth as possible. They show passion in their quality of communication, patient care, and maintenance. I'd highly recommend Ignite Medical Resort.
I feel within myself that I have had the best care while I've been here. The people care and that is the most important thing. The doctors, the therapists and the food people care and you don't always find that in different facilities. After my surgery I don't think I could have gone to a better place. I am grateful for my time here at Ignite KU.
My mother has stayed here twice for rehabilitation. The staff seem attentive and friendly. The building and rooms are clean. The food is pretty good. I would highly recommend this place of care.
