They have no empathy/sympathy whatsoever. Had an appointment set up over a week and a half ahead and got canceled. A staff member called and ask if I was a smoker which I am but didn't ask any other questions or told me what to do except that there is a 30 day nicotine free policy in order to get the surgery. Understandable, because is a bad habit but why not ask when was the last time I smoked? Then offer me nothing but meds? If your policy is 30 days before surgery then I would had been over the amount of days required since I had never had a surgery date but a new patient one.
I have only the highest praise for this hospital, Dr. Walz and the team. I’ve been a patient since 2007.
I am not one who generally rates anyone, irrespective of whether I receive good service or bad service. However, occasionally the service I receive is so Outstanding that the persons deserve to be recognized. Such is case for Dr. Walz And his team. Simply put, In my 60 years of dealing with orthopedic surgeons whether as a patient, trial attorney or judge, I have never been treated by or observed a physician who is as skilled, patient, and caring as Dr. Walz. He addresses your health issues in a very conservative fashion And goes out of his way to explain all of the various options. He specializes in minimally invasive hip replacement surgery and is dedicated to making sure that your outcome is successful. Frankly, I was very hesitant to even consider Hip surgery in Springfield for my damaged hip. I had planned on going to the Mayo clinic if necessary However, after meeting with Dr. Walz and being treated by him, I am confident that I will receive as good if not better care from him then I would from anyone else. Most importantly, he was very patient and took time to answer all of my questions and address all of my concerns– Of which I had many. Simply put, his bedside manner is tops. He is assisted by his nurse, Tina, who is also wonderful and who also goes out of her way to put you at ease and make you feel both safe and secure. Both she and Dr. Walz exhibit a high level of compassion and care not generally found these days. They are a wonderful team. It is for these reasons that I would, without hesitation, recommend Dr. Walz for your hip issues. Kudos also to the new orthopedic hospital in Ozark. It is outstanding. From the moment you step through the door until you leave, the staff attends to your every need and goes out of their way to make your treatment there go as smoothly as possible. It is so much different there than most hospitals nowadays. In some ways it feels like the Calendar has been turned back 50 years. Anyway, thank you for reading this. I hope that whatever health issues you have are able to be dealt with successfully.
Dr. Walz and his medical team are an extraordinary team to work with. I am 50 year old very active male, who had become very handicap when it came to walking. My Dr's thought it was do to an auto immune disease. Recently we found out it was not related and due to years of prednisone use I needed both hips replaced. Dr. Walz was recommended as the best in the area. He replaced the left hip and I feel ...
He replaced the left hip and I feel amazing. His team has been exemplary to work with me. My only complaint is the administrative group in his office. Account services were you pay your co-payment is like speaking to the mofia. They make threats of cancelation of surgery if not paid 7 days out. Honestly, very rude and I had no problem paying, but treated me like I did. Kathy in scheduling was rough the first surgery and no better when scheduling my second surgery. She interupts, with zero customer service skills. I feel these 2 areas forget you are the customer and these hips are a generous pay out to the hospital. In both areas after giving some push back attitude back their customer service skills kicked in. I am elated with Dr. Walz work and giving me mobility back. However, be prepared when it comes to Administrative piece.
Replaced my right knee 2 years ago. Doing my left knee tomorrow.
Three years after total hip replacement surgery and doing fine and healthy! I am forever grateful. Dr. Walz is the best ! ??
I had a total hip replacement surgery (anterior) in June 2020 performed by Dr Bradley Walz at Mercy Orthopedic Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. I was very impressed with the services I received from him, his staff and the hospital staff. I had this same procedure done 5 years ago at another facility in another town. Both went well, but the major difference was having local anesthesia with a sedative this time rather than general anesthesia the first time. The recovery time in the hospital was so much faster. First surgery 5 years ago was at 12:30 pm and I was throwing up at 10:30 pm. This time surgery was at 7:00 am and I was eating a full meal at 1:00 pm, followed by walking around my room several times later that day. Physical therapy followed the day after to learn how to get in and out of a car and a shower, and exercises during recovery. Home by 5:00 pm the day after surgery, using walker for 2 weeks and cane during week 3 and 4. I highly recommend Dr Walz and Mercy.
He is such an amazing Doctor! He did an amazing job on my knee replacement! I had it Done August 15 2018.
Dr Walz is one of my Super Heroes ! I had right anterior total hip replacement in 2011. Due to wear and tear and osteoarthritis , in 2019 I needed the left hip replaced. absolutely superb, I truly feel as if he has given me my life back. His PA and NP are outstanding for follow up care. He is the BEST in this field, and would heartily recommend him for Anterior hip replacement!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
