I was very pleased with Dr. Edwards and his nursing staff were very caring, they all were wonderful and acted like family even if only for a moment. Thank you.
Dr. Edwards performed the Nissen fundoplication procedure as my esophagus doesn't work. Anyway it has been a couple of days and all is going pretty well.. I have nothing but nice things to say about he and his staff.
My husband is having problems with his gastric bypass failing, and he's trying to see a physician to find out why it's suddenly and rather dramatically failing. The nurse refused to make an appointment and told him he's just overeating and not dieting. You would think a bariatric nurse would know better than to try to shame patients. He gave up trying to find help after that. If he dies from this, that nurse should know she bears some responsibility.
Pretty disheartening experience! Felt "slammed dunked" from the moment I walked through the door. I am a past gastric bypass patient who is now experiencing some complications, doctor spent all of about 2 minutes with me, I jumped through hoops and underwent thousands of dollars in tests to figure out what was going on, I finally got hope that I would have some relief. Only to have a very rude nurse call me to tell me they couldn't do anything for me. No doctor follow up NOTHING. Maybe these doctors would be well suited in their continuing education to realize their are genuine people behind these issues and to be summarily dismissed by a nurse who can't even answer the questions is pretty frustrating. On a different note this is my second experience with Mercy in the last year ( I had a heart attack last August) and this seems to be the general consensus throughout their system. I drove 2 hours to be seen there because I thought they were one of the best. I was sorely mistaken! And to the Mercy people reading these reviews? Shame on you, you don't treat people this way! P.S. 4/13/22 thought I would add an addendum to this review. Mercy immediately responded with the "oh we care" send us an email so we can discuss this. I have followed up with an email, and 2 phone calls and no one has ever called me back or responded to my email. It's not like they don't know where to find me they have no problem hassling me for my payment on the bill which isn't even processed correctly and I won't pay a dime until they get their ducks in a row and fix it!! Unbelievable!!!
Dr Edwards performed my gastric bypass on 12/16/20. When I was still admitted in the hospital (for 5 days) I had to get a blood transfusion. After coming home 2 days later I was in the ER with severe pain and fever. Ended up having to have emergency surgery in Oklahoma (where I live) on Christmas Eve. I was septic at that time because of a bowel leakage. I spent a total of 25 days in the hospital and some of those days in ICU. I don’t remember the first part of my stay bc I was so sick and out of it. I had a follow up scheduled to see him during that time and his office called to confirm my appointment and I told them at that time what all had happened. The lady said she would let him know. I guess I thought I was going to get a call back to check on me. Haha. Ya right. What was I thinking?! I had to get more blood and an iron infusion. After all of this when I was able to go home I was so swollen I looked like a toad. Couldn’t walk. Couldn’t even get up from a laying position on my own. I’ve had to do wound care 3 times a week, down to two times a week, now to once a week. I had home health out 3 times a week. Physical therapy weekly. I had two iv’s going 24 hours a day for a about a month. I was finally able to go back to work the beginning of March. Now I’m severely anemic and have to have further testing done like a bone marrow biopsy next Friday. I’ve been told that I was anemic prior to surgery and I had no idea. I would avoid him if you want to have a great experience.
Love everyone who took care of me.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
