List of Deatrice Lumae Kellogg's Reviews
Dr. Kellogg is patient centered and focused on quality over quantity of medications. She is empathetic and a superhero as far as I am concerned.
Our family member was in a long term care facility for rehab where Dr. Kellogg oversaw their care. Our family member received too many pain pills and they kept the catheter in longer than necessary resulting in new issues. This doctor seemed to do whatever was least cumbersome for the facility even when it made our family member miserable. Communication was lacking and seemed to be inconsistent between doctor and staff. We couldn’t wait to get her home to see her regular doctor.
Worst doctor I have had to deal with ever. Lack of care and oversight of elderly patients in a long term care facility. Would rather mask symptoms with pain pills and long term use of catheters than to determine the root of the problem. Dr. fails to communicate with staff and families of patients. Visits with patients when they happen are brief and necessary medications often fall through ...
Our family member was in a long term care facility for rehab where Dr. Kellogg oversaw their care. Our family member received too many pain pills and they kept the catheter in longer than necessary resulting in new issues. This doctor seemed to do whatever was least cumbersome for the facility/herself even when it made our family member miserable. Masking symptoms instead of addressing them seems to be Dr. Kellogg’s specialty. Communication was lacking and seemed to be inconsistent between doctor and staff. We couldn’t wait to get our family member home to see their regular doctor. Our family member was in this facility for two months and this doctor ignored multiple requests from the family. Thank goodness for caring nurses and a great nurse practitioner!
Worst doctor I have had to deal with ever. Lack of care and oversight of elderly patients in a long term care facility. Would rather mask symptoms with pain pills and long term use of catheters than to determine the root of the problem. Dr. fails to communicate with staff and families of patients. Visits with patients when they happen are brief and necessary medications often fall through the cracks. I would never recommend anyone use this doctor for any need but especially not for their elderly loved ones. If this doctor is who will oversee your loved ones care, keep looking no matter how nice the facility seems!
Our family had a horrible experience dealing with Dr. Kellogg in a skilled nursing facility. She gave our beloved family member combinations of drugs that are documented on the internet as dangerous combinations. Our family repeatedly tried to get her to discuss this with us. She seems to lack compassion for the patient and the family. When I finally got to discuss the medications with her, she was rude and unconcerned about her loved one. If you love your elderly family member, choose a different doctor.
She looked after my mother in a long term are facility. She is the best Dr. my mother had. She made her quality of life much better than the other doctors were able to do. I have read negative reviews, she didn't spend much time with the family. She has a lot of patients to see in the nursing home and I understand that she spends her time for patients care instead of spending ample time with the family. The Dr's. that have spent a lot of time with me turned out to not know the right care.
I'm a caregiver and DPOA for an elderly person in Springfield, MO, where Dr. Kellog now practices. Dr. Kellog was seeing my loved one in 2013 in a long term care setting, and I found Dr. Kellogg to be evasive, dismissive and condescending. She made medical decisions such as changes in medications for my loved one who has dementia without first discussing these decisions with me as DPOA. It was weeks after the fact, that I learned that one new medication had been prescribed by Dr. Kellogg and was being administered without my knowledge. I selected 1+ hour wait time, because it took five days for Dr. Kellogg to first see my loved one after admission into the care community from the hospital. I am not surprised to see other negative reviews from Dr. Kellogg's past practice in Belleville, IL. My only surprise is a positive review from 2014, when Dr, Kellogg was no longer practicing in Belleville, IL, to my knowledge. Therefore, I felt compelled to also add this review. I do not believe it is unrealistic to expect physicians to discuss care plans for elderly dementia patients with their family/caregivers/DPOA before action is taken, especially when there is no emergency.
Caring, empathetic, goes out of her way for her patients. She understands geriatric patients and has the experience to back it up. My guess is the other complaints were from family members that were unrealistic and complainers.
This physician repeatedly deceived the patient by telling him she would assist him by prescribing medication that both she and the patient discussed, and Dr. Kellogg repeatedly failed to provide that assistance. After several episodes of mishaps (falls) due to the medication Dr. Kellogg prescibed, she agreed to change his sleeping medications to a milder prescription and did NOT do so! Instead, she continued to prescribe the medications, which continued to cause physical mishaps. Dr. Kellogg also repeatedly talked 'at' or 'down' to the patient's daughter, refusing to hear that issues needed to be addressed. Dr. Kellogg's demeanor demonstrated an exstreme lack of respect for the patient and his family.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
