Excellent doctor
Have seen him multiple times and each visit is a giant waste as he can't do anything without labs (understanble to a degree), but also, finds every lab inconclusive and needs further testing (ok maybe once...) and ALSO doesn't bother to call you and tell you the labs are unusable until you hound his office about it. AND is completely unsympathetic when you're weary of getting labs in the next visits. But doesn't bother to talk with you about it, just sends out a nurse to do his dirty work, a real coward move. Plus I've been waiting for the office to give me a copy of my medical records for over a year and they can't find them, cool.. And to top it all off, he dogs you for not coming in as often as he would like- I'm not an infant, I don't need monthly check ups, my guy.
My wife and I have had Dr. Van Riessen, MD since the early 2000's and the man has always provided optimal medical service. He communicates clearly and relates as well as any other professional I've ever worked with.
Dr. Van Riessen has always taken time out of his busy to sit down and listen to my concerns and he always ask me about my life.
Look, Doctor's are going to have some reviews that are less than stellar, some people like to complain about anything. What I will tell you is Dr. Van Riessen has been a very good Doctor for me. He has always showed actual concern and asked engaging questions while educating me in different topics of health. I would recommend him 100%
Dr Van Riessen is an excellent doctor. He truly cares about the patients well being, as opposed to just handing out a pill to fix things!! Very encouraging and a great listener!
Am I able to give no stars? I made an appt for an annual just as I do every year. This doctor decides to bill me in full as if it was an appointment made for a illness. My insurance company even catches it and calls me. But they refuse to change the coding and now I’m stuck paying someone $146 to listen to my lungs, check my throat and tell me to have a good day. I have never experienced something like this ever. I go every year to see a doctor for my annual as directed through my company and my insurance covers it every time. This is ridiculous and not one person I spoke to at this office could help me. DO NOT SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT WIT DR. VAN RISEEN
Always kind and reassuring, takes the time to answer all of my questions and never makes me feel rushed. Staff is kind and easy to work with as well.
When I was 41 I told Dr. Van Riesen I had chest pains, a two generation history of fathers and grnadfathers with major heart events before 50 and he didn't want to get me a stress test. Said unnecessary so coded it such that it would cost me $10,000 to get one. Recently went to him with a variety of symptoms I could not explain and he said, "I'm used to seeing people really sick. What do you want me to do?" Within a month of that, in the hospital with MS. Never go to this doctor. Worthless
Dr one time visit seemed caring and next visit short and abrupt. Condescending and said find another job when what I had asked about wasn’t even related to my job, he needs to find another job. Career burnout??

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
