Dr Flax us wonderful however her office people and front desk people are very rude as well as the office manager Lori was very un professional will never go back there due to the treatment I received there today

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Flax for over 10 years and it hurts to write this. She was a fabulous dr, sweet, kind, always had a smile on her face, and always worked me in until about 2-3 years ago. That’s when she started passing me off to her NP’s. Never working me in. Barely seeing her but once a year and then only asking if I need any refills never talking about what I’ve gone through in the past year. The NP’s are sweet and kind but they are not medical doctors. I recently seen one of them a few months ago I was not feeling well. Dr Flax was booked out for acute appts until February and this was early October! I worked in a busy drs office and we always had same-day appts. The NP gave me rx that was supposed to help my symptoms of burning and urinary urgency(per her words) until my tests came back but this did not relieve sxs and made them so much worse. This was a yeast infection cream and not made for relieving sxs! My ob didn’t understand why she’d prescribe this to me with my particular sxs. Long story short I had a couple of tests ran which were negative and then I was ignored. The NP did seem like she truly wanted to help and I did really like her but once the tests came back she was done messing with me. Apparently the only urinary issues they treat are uti’s. Fine. But something could have been wrong with me. Instead of giving me something to actually relieve my sxs until I saw a specialist and a referral to a urologist, telling me I can come back to recheck my UA, I was given nothing and was told I could have a referral to an ob/gyn, which I already had and the dr knew I had an ob and I mostly had urinary issues not gynecological. I had to eventually go to my gyn and they helped me once again. They rechecked my UA and gave me some abx and Pyridium, and a urology referral in case my sxs worsened. This makes three times I’ve gone to my ob for help when my primary care dr should have helped me. All she wants to do is run a test(s)on you to determine your diagnosis and when it’s negative she and her NP’s do nothing. What happened to using old fashioned knowledge?? Tests are important but relying only on them for a dx is dangerous in my opinion. Ignoring the patient is not cool. I understand that gp’s have a limited spectrum of care but not doing anything for their patient when they are clearly not feeling well is absurd. I was treated like I was lying. I’m not asking for pain medicine!!! I never thought I’d say this but I’m going to find another doctor. I know I’m not a complicated, chronically ill patient but I shouldn’t be ignored, passed on and I actually want to see a doctor that will be proactive in my health. I’ve not been happy with her care in a couple of years and tired of basically treating myself with otc meds, constantly seeing her NP’s, her being passive in regards to my illness when I message her and going to my ob for help. Such a shame.

She is friendly yet professional, very knowledgeable and also efficient. This was my first appointment with her, because we were new to the area. My husband and I were very impressed with her expertise and thoroughness. We also were impressed with the operation of her practice. Her assistant took blood for a test during this visit (and I was notified of the results early the next morning!), and before we'd left I already had an appointment scheduled with a specialist. I couldn't have imagined a better first visit or experience.

Saw her for wellness exam. Had pneumonia at the time.. didn’t know it but mentioned shortness of breath. She ignored it and so I figured it wasn’t a big deal. 6 weeks later I’m still dealing with pneumonia worse than ever. She only needed to explain the policy instead of ignoring me. If I would have known, I would have made another appt. writing this review because I’m contemplating going back to the ER bc I feel so bad and so mad it took this long to ignite this out.

Saw her for my wellness exam.. after I saw her I realized none of my concerns were addressed. (I’m usually very nervous about appts and lose train of thought.) A couple weeks later, I mentioned to my mom (a nurse at cox) how I felt like nothing was figured out and she told me about a new policy with insurance that at wellness exams you can’t talk about current problems you’re having.. & that it’s just a wellness exam.. 5 min quick visit. Any additional problems have to have specific appts. Ok that’s fine I though but I had NO idea. I never go to the dr. So I mentioned difficulty breathing/shallow breathing. She didn’t say a word. Ignored it completely so I figured she wasn’t concerned. I forgot about it. Weeks later I end up in the ER with pneumonia and some scary symptoms that could have been addressed if she would have just explained that I needed an additional appt. healthcare is whack these days. So a total of 8 weeks still dealing with pneumonia at a young age. Worse today then the day I went to the ER and just wonder how much better I would feel if she would have just mentioned how she has to basically ignore me the first wellness appt. her NP Toni is awesome though! Way more understanding and thorough than her. Not sure why anyone pays for doctor visits anymore.

I really appreciated Dr. Flax. She listened to me & made me feel comfortable during my visit. Her nurse practitioner was great also. I’m lucky to have them as my health care professionals.

It seems like she is in it for the money, tries to do treatment before she knows the diagnosis and my Dr. said I was placed on wrong medication. She insisted we come in for an appt. when I just needed her signature on an updated form for the school nurse to give my son his medication to prevent him from having a febrile seizure at school. I feel she has no compassion for her patients .I would not recommend her to anyone.

I have been a patient of Dr. Flax for several years. She is FANTASTIC! She always has time for me and NEVER acts like she is in a hurry. Her nurses have always been nothing but nice, caring and friendly. Three women in a Wal-Green pharmacy recommended Dr. Flax to me when I first moved to Springfield. I am so thankful I listened to them.

This Dr Flax me a diagnosis of stage3 kidney disease. When I questioned that, I have no symptoms, she said. Don’t get so upset “All elderly people have kidney disease” my recent GFR is 100 which says my kidneys are working better then my 66yr old ratio of 60-89. She refuses to even talk to me about a diagnosis she gave me without talking to me. Wonder if she gets Medicare kickback for elderly people with kidney disease. Going to Mercy in 2018 just to get that off my health record

All I have to say is that I am so lucky to have her. Her staff and herself is so helpful!
