List of Matthew Earl Simpson's Reviews
Dr Simpson was the first surgeon to take the time to listen to me and figured out my problem I’ve been dealing with for years was my gallbladder. Very personable and truly cares about his patients.
Dr. Simpson himself deserves 10 stars, as does the majority of his staff. However, this is a case of one bad apple ruining the whole bunch. I had hernia repair surgery on 10/4, and began violently coughing shortly thereafter from stomach acid. It was extremely painful and was pulling at my stitches. I called the office's after hours line, as instructed in the event of any problems, and received a call back from a woman named Jamie, though she would not give her last name. She was extremely rude to me and completely lacked empathy. She did not listen to my concerns and instead spent the majority of the phone call reaming me out for taking, in her view, "too much antacid." She also read me the riot act for not answering my phone fast enough when she called me, though I called her back immediately. She huffed and puffed like a petulant child who had been awoken from a nap, and made it very clear she could not care less about my issues. I hate writing bad reviews, but Dr. Simpson and the rest of his staff are so wonderful and caring, I hate to see this vile woman ruin their hard work and good reputations. I do hope this woman attends some sensitivity training, or at the very least stops taking on call shifts, because she very clearly does not care one iota for Dr. Simpson's patients. Fortunately I was able to resolve the issue myself, and received a follow up phone call from someone in the office who actually treated me like a human being. I sincerely hope something is done about this Jamie woman so she does not further ruin the reputation and perception of the rest of this wonderful group of people.
Dr.Simpson, Daphne, Nate and the whole team and staff are AMAZING with the exception of one extremely rude nurse who thinks she owns/runs the place. Dr. Simpson did a wonderful job on my gastric bypass surgery. I'm currently 6 months post op, down 85 pounds and feel the best I have in years. I go in monthly for my B12 injections and I ALWAYS get flack from the nurse "Mary" every time...She's a nurse, that's her job! I have requested that she not be a part of my care team and yet she still makes an appearance when I'm there and makes snide comments about me getting my injection at their office...The real question is "WHY?"...It takes them 5 minutes and isn't hurting anyone. I really like the doctors and other nurses/staff though and Kelly is very sweet and does her best to be as helpful as possible with the nurse issues. Other than that, my experience has been great!
did a double hernia repair and it lasted 2 days and he refused to do anything about it. sent me down the road. I had to wait 3 months before any other dr would even look at me because I was still under his post op care. what a joke this guy is. the gut who fixed it said he has done at least 3 before me from this clown
I am 7 days post op of gastric bypass. It has been rocky & more than I expected. I ended up back in the local hospital 2 days post op but not to Cox because they wouldn’t take me. They said they had no beds. Why allow surgery if they don’t have the facilities to care for you afterwards I was very disappointed in this & also that I was refused a overnight stay the day of surgery by Dr Simpson. There’s SO much to learn I was overwhelmed & it’s no wonder mistakes are made by patients causing complications.
I was referred to see this doctor for a GERD test. After my repeated attempts to advise him of a drug adversity I have he continued to dispense the drugs and guess what? THEY DID NOT WORK and no procedure was done! I was billed almost $2700 for him ignoring my repeated attempt to advise him the medicine would not work! Was told after a grievance was filed that these are the only meds that he can legally ...
Run away as fast as you can. I was not allowed to ever meet Dr Simpson, but numerous procedures were prescribed for me after only a visit with the nurse. When I questioned the staff about additional procedures scheduled, I was given the run around. There was no follow up to my questions and/or emails. Then to add insult to injury I was accused of saying things I did not say. Clearly, this was a CYA tactic to cover their tracks. I wish I had read the previous negative reviews before TRYING to get medical attention here. AVOID this practice unless you like being abused.
Ask Doctor Simpson to sing the theme from Sanford and Son On a serious note Dr Simpson performed my ablation about 3 months ago and I am very happy and I'm very thankful to Dr Simpson and his team
Another vote for “avoid this guy”. My first red flag should have been that he did not attend my consult, sent his NP. Met him for the first time in the pre-op room and he was running a few hours late (which I don’t think was his fault), so he was in a hurry, he was very impatient and bullied me when I asked questions, overall it was a horrible experience while I laid there alone (due to Covid restrictions) and helpless with an IV in my arm. Then ZERO follow up...not even a phone call from his office post op to check in. And recovery time for my “routine” procedure was considerably more serious than I was told and the post op instructions were inadequate and the post op care was nonexistent. Don’t know if all of this is his fault, or part is to blame on bad management at the clinic/hospital, but be forewarned.
He is a WONDERFUL Doctor! I'd refer him to anyone who wants gastric bypass surgery.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
