Raffaele Pennella's Online Review Report Card

We have been seeing dr Panella for probably 25 years. My husband and I recommend his care. Very highly.

I requested a fungal culture to diagnose my atypical inflammatory tinea capitis infection but it was refused. PA York misdiagnosed me with alopecia areata and prescribed a strong topical steroid. It caused a painful flare up resulting in additional hair loss. At that point I had to call several times to get a response from Dr Pennella’s office, who finally offered to see me in 6 weeks. When I asked for immediate help and provided photos showing the flare, they pushed me off with a referral to St Louis with a wait of appx 4 mos. This office refused further care and had a real negative impact on my health. I wasted 4 months and appx $500 to be intimidated verbally as well as in writing here. After searching further I found a derm in Joplin to see me within 2 weeks who did the culture, started treatment and got me on the right track on the first appointment.

Would not recommend to anyone. Saw him for over a year for a chronic condition. He never initiated an appointment, he never learned my name, he didn't even set his clipboard down most of the time, just looked like he was too busy to deal with me. Offered an aggressive plan and then never followed up. When it didn't work, he was rude and condescending. I had an outbreak when I was out of town and called the "on call" number in a panic, trying to get a quick Rx to tide me over. He happened to be the doctor on call that night which should have been a good thing. Instead, he literally yelled at me and told me he was trying to get his kids to bed. Unbelievably unprofessional. Found a new doc in Branson and have been extremely happy with the switch.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Pennella for over 15 years. He has been outstanding at each and every appointment. Even with his busy schedule he been the consumate professional and has consistently made sure all my concerns were addressed and taken care of. I would highly recommend him!

only got to see him once after that delt with a very nasty nurse, not his fault but still she was very uncaring about my worries.

Dr. Panels has been my dermatologist about 12 yrs. I adore him, he's kind and an excellent skilled Dr. I don't trust anyone else. Going to see him soon again for a checkup.
