Compassionate and brilliant. He has treated my husband over the course of the past four years. He has kept us abreast of the latest research and supported our journey at every turn. It simply doesn’t get any better than Dr. Carter when it comes to stroke rehabilitation.

On my initial visit he spent more time with me than I expected. He explained things very well & took time to answer all my questions. He is very knowledgeable and personable. We came up with a plan for further evaluation. Couldn’t be more pleased!

Following a concussion the soonest I could get an appointment was 7 months later. I was able to get a cancellation slot, but I was admitted to Barnes at the time so couldn't keep it. Dr. Carter unexpectedly swung by and talked to me. His bedside manner was amazing and he was very personal and kind. Answered all my questions and assured me he'd fit me in the next week. I cannot recommend him higher. I've consistently been blown away by WashU physicians and by all Barnes employees.

Dr. Carter is an excellent provider and I did not see any "Bed Side Manner" issues with him as others have claimed. He spent a lot of time with me and answered all of my questions. Then he came up with a plan to help me and we have been working on that plan making modifications where needed. I too believe he is a brilliant doctor and the reason people travel (I drive 3.5hrs oneway) to see Washington University Providers is because they are brilliant providers, researchers and professors.

He may be smart, but he has no compassion or bed-side manner. He should be in a lab, not dealing with patients! Very condescending!!!

He was extremely cocky, abrupt and was insulting. His research is brilliant but his bedside manner is lacking. That was my assessment of him. He just rubbed me the wrong way.
