List of Alysa G Ellis's Reviews
I found Dr. Ellis to be very dismissive and rude as a child allergist. She speaks to you in a very rushed manner, disrupted me every time I would try to tell her about my sons food allergies/diet in such a dismissive way as if I the parent didn’t know my own child and his reactions to the food he ate. She comes across very cold shoulder as a doctor with children in this field. My son is speech and behavior delayed, and she spoke at him like he should’ve understood her demands. Like what’s wrong with you?! Never been more disappointed in a doctor especially that works with children.
Dr. Ellis was nearly an hour late for my appointment which was at 8:30 in the morning. I can understand if it had been an afternoon appointment, as I know some patients may be unpredictable and can take longer than expected, but at 8:30 in the morning, I had to be one of the first appointments of the day. Dr. Ellis did not apologize for being late (as if her time was so much more valuable than mine) she just went right in to asking questions, but everything felt very rushed and as I was trying to explain my sons symptoms, I was often interrupted. I walked out of the office with a treatment plan for my sons asthma, only problem is the order sent to my pharmacy was wrong.....only half the dose was prescribed and since it was a Friday evening, I had to wait until Monday to call. Calling Dr. Ellis' office turned out to be like trying to call customer service for a cable company provider, although, I feel this comparison is actually unfair to cable providers, because getting a hold of anyone at Dr. Ellis's office was much, much worse, and seemingly an impossible task. After spending a whole day Monday, and a whole day Tuesday, I decided to check my discharge paperwork....maybe the order sent to the pharmacy was correct and it was me that misunderstood? After all I had a fussy 1 year old due to the fact that we had been couped up in an office for almost 2 hours. Perhaps I misunderstood. My discharge papers confirmed what was at the pharmacy, so, I assumed that was the case...….until my son got sick and had an asthma attack and I took him in to his pediatrician. His pediatrician could see the notes that Dr. Ellis wrote and it confirmed that what she wrote as the intended dose and what was sent to the pharmacy were mismatched. I was giving my son only half the dose. I then proceeded to spend another day and half calling the office to get ahold of someone. It was only when I threatened to call an administrator that someone called me back. I finally got a nurse and got the order correct. I told her which pharmacy to send it to. She re-confirmed. Went to the pharmacy, no order. Went back to the pharmacy the next day. Still no order. Called Dr. Ellis' office again. Turns out the order was sent to a pharmacy I have never used. I asked it be corrected and I was told it was. Went back to my pharmacy. Still not correct. Called again. Was assured it was fine......rinse and repeat this process about 4 more times and you get the point. I finally drove all the way in to Barnes Hospital and parked 2 blocks away with my sick child to get the prescription all because of the incompetence of this office. To her credit, Dr. Ellis did call and apologize, but I think I'll be moving on to a different doctor at this point. I was initially going to report this incident to Childrens Hospital administrators and the board of pediatrics, so if this review seems harsh, this office should consider it a courtesy rather than a punishment.
Felt dismissed, told my child didn't have an allergy due to the skin test, but blood test showed otherwise. Introduced food, my child has an allergic reaction. Called to ask what to do, no one returned my call. Called my pediatrician instead and got direction.
I took my son to see her and we were called back promptly but then waited in the patient room for over an hour. We finally had to ask if she was going to see us. Once she did finally show up, she did nothing for my son. We wanted him to be tested for allergies, like his pediatrician suggested, and she tested him for one illness and told me she'd call me with the results. She never did!! We then waited for another 20 minutes for her staff to give us exit paper work. It was a waste of time and my $50.00 copay.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
