List of Barnes -Jewish Hospital's Reviews
Stayed here after surgery complications and a majority of the nursing staff were extremely rude and showed zero compassion. When I brought up my concerns I was treated horribly. You could not pay me to go to this hospital again.
The nurses were nothing but fantastic. Very helpful, respectful, and would go out of their way to make you feel better and keep you informed
I was shot in the face and they were amazing to me best medical care I ever had doctors , and nurses and staff were amazing to me ... Thank you all for being with me through my time of pain 💝
HIPAA violations, patient abuse, negligence, filth, and coverups Zero compassion, respect, excellence, safety, or teamwork. That’s there motto
I’ve been sitting in the ER over 7 hours and haven’t gotten seen whilst they keep letting patients in front of me I just had a baby 2 months ago and I’m having extreme abdominal pain I would think I would be n the second priority at the least
The hospital here will sic security on black patients.
It’s a good Hospital I go there for all my appointments
I'm appalled by the behavior of your staff! My mother came to the ER in tears (uncontrollably) with a ripped bowel, and they refused to help her, only giving her tylenol, which did NOTHING for this level of pain. Then she came back for her pillow she brought with her, and the nurse retrieved it from the trash can and handed it to her and walked off! This is why you stay in court...and if anything happens to her you will be there again!
I was extremely impressed with Barnes Hospital and every single staff member I encountered, from the receptionists to the nurses and finally the doctor. They were all quite professional, very polite, and extremely helpful.
My main reason for writing this is because I'm a NURSE! I've been one for 49 years. I’ve also been a Board Certified Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist for 22 years. I feel the need to alert the public about the horrific level of nursing care I received in this hospital. I had a spine surgery there on 6/15/23. I was on the Orthopedic Spine floor 17500 for 12 days. It was supposed to be 2, but was prolonged due to complications. I had excruciating pain due to muscle cramps in my back for 6 days after surgery. The pain meds didn't help at all. Every time I tried to move, it felt like lightening was shooting through my back. I did not hardly eat or drink for 6 days because every time I moved, even sitting up an inch, I would literally SCREAM in pain!! It was the worst pain I had ever felt in my life. The nurses, especially Tia, were especially cruel. She would push the button to raise the head of my bed QUICKLY to give me my meds. I would SCREAM even more as the rapid movement of the bed triggered intense muscle spasms. My husband would tell her to stop and she'd say "She'll get used to it". He would immediately lower my head back down and help me get comfortable again. At one point, my husband expressed his concern to her that the pain management doctor told him my meds would be changed.Tia told him the orders didn’t change. Her note related to this stated “patient pain prevented her from getting out of bed, sitting 20 degrees for more than 15 seconds without spasms and yelling in pain… Dilaudid entirely too sedating for several hours: word salad, unable to finish thoughts. Neck/bilateral shoulder pain not addressed. Spouse upset regarding pain management team visit and then meds not reflecting discussion. This writer explained several times regarding patient remaining obtunded and staff caring for patient in a fluid manner to protect and assist”. Apparently, she did not contact the pain management doctor for clarification of the new orders nor administer the meds per these orders. Instead, she chose not to as she believed I was too sedated. I’m not sure if she is aware, but making that decision was WRONG! It was her job to clarify the new orders. Instead she chose to let me suffer as she described in her note! Also, according to my husband, during an interaction with her when I was very confused, I made a statement about 2 meds being the same or something like that. He said she literally laughed at me and said “She’s a NP (I’m an Advanced Practice Nurse like a NP) and she doesn’t know they aren’t the same!! You should tease her about this when you get home.” He was furious and told her he would never tease me about something I said when I was totally confused. If my husband hadn't been there 12 hours a day to make sure I got sips of Ensure and water and a few bites of food, I might have died of thirst. I was very dehydrated. He told the nurses when they would come in to pass meds that I was not eating or drinking, and they did NOTHING! Passing meds was basically all they did. And they did that poorly. My husband would ask them, per my instruction, before I went to the hospital for surgery, exactly what meds they were giving me. He used the spreadsheet I gave him to check off the meds to make sure they matched. The nurses were extremely annoyed that he would have the audacity to do that. Many nurses did not do a nursing assessment, foley catheter care, monitor my oral fluid intake and what I ate from my tray. They rarely looked at my dressing and checked my cervical collar to ensure it was on correctly. I must say, I was embarrassed, angry, and disappointed by the quality of nursing care I received. It was less than 1 star overall. Nurses who choose to work in a hospital setting know what they're getting into and must choose to give 100% to their patients every day. If they can't, they need to go elsewhere as patient care is suffering because of them.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
