Bethesda Southgate's Online Review Report Card

I could write a review on this facility for days. The reality is, certain staff are under paid, depends on who you are, they rather pay agency than their own staff that have been there for decades and have and continue to stick it out through the crisis of covid. An agency that soaks up the money while sitting there doing nothing while actual bethesda cnas and nurses pick up the slack and cater to the residents for being upset from not being taken care of by their agency cna or nurse. There aren't enough cnas to properly give residents the care they deserve. It's pretty bad when supervisors are working as aides. The admin jen thinks that having casual days and dress up days is going to help with the care of the residents. The only 5 star reviews on this site like Tara and Shelley are all in the office or activities that are friends with management and the admin. Neither work hands on nor care for the residents. It is unbelievable the things that have happened throughout the years that have been covered up or worded in a way to families where it seems like bethesda is not negligant. If only the families knew what really goes on behind closed doors.

Management are some very sneaky liars, shady, grimy and cannot be trusted!

***********MY RATING OF THIS DESPICABLE PLACE IS AN INFINITY BELOW ZERO. **************Just imagine the horror & heartbreak of watching your father suffer for 8 solid hours when being transferred from the rehab department into hospice at the same facility because, "they didn't have an order so they weren't allowed to give him any medication AT ALL" & without an ounce of compassion. He then passed away the following night at 6:26pm. 😭 And prior to that, the week he spent in the rehab department there was no better, but far too many problems to even mention that could compare to the pain he suffered while in hospice for the last 20 hours of his life. 😭😭😭

Great place to work. Administration really goes out of their way to praise staff. Employee Council does a lot of fun events for staff such as food trucks, contests, free food, giveaways, games and raffles. Residents stay very involved in activities with each other and staff and it really has a home like feel where staff and residents both bond with each other.

The employees are leaving like flies!!! No staff and the residents are not be treated like humans. They have all these activities but what about basic needs.

Bethesda is not mandating that their employees get vaccines. I was going to look into placing my family here but when I found out they aren’t mandating their employees continue to risk my parents getting sick, there is no way I can do this. Shameful!

This place is ridiculous my dad has been there for 3 days and he is there for therapy because he broke his hip and his wrist. He has laid there for three days with no help from anyone he asked for water and two hours later called me said they still had not brought him any water so I called and asked the nurse to please take some water to him they… Zvimwe still never showed up the very next day he asked for water they never brought him any so all of Saturday he had none and so far on Sunday he has had none I'm guessing since I called and complained they're just going to totally ignore my dad so I will be taking him out tomorrow 3 days and they're supposed to be doing therapy and they have done… Zvimwe

UPDATE: DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO BETHESDA SOUTHGATE AND IF THEY ARE AT BETHESDA SOUTHGATE, PLEASE REMOVE THEM IMMEDIATELY BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.ORIGINAL REVIEW:When you hear your loved in say "they are mean to me here" - it is just plain heartbreaking. Staff is unfriendly and a majority of the workers seem miserable. Why some still have a job is beyond me...

DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY. Shortly after being moved to the nursing home section of this facility, my family member began having bed sores and infections and was taken to the hospital for pneumonia. They are clearly not taking appropriate measures to give their residents dignity and a comfortable environment. I will be reporting this facility for what is clearly elder abuse. When asked for medical care as my family member was clearly in need due to her pneumonia, the nurse responded, "I think she's dying." This facility should not be allowed to continue treating their residents in this way. Please do not trust this facility with the care of your loved ones. It is clear they only see their residents as a pay check.
