GROSS NEGLIGENCE AND INCOMPETENCE! I called and spoke to the assistant to PA Rachel Hartke concerning my upcoming appointment. I asked what their mask wear policy was because of a preexisting medical condition I am unable to wear a mask. The official policy is that they highly encourage the wear of a mask, but the mask is not required because they do not have masks to give to patients. I made clear that I was not able to wear a mask due to a preexisting medical condition and WOULD NOT WEAR A MASK. I said we can either re-schedule the appointment or do a Zoom or audio appointment. The assistant stated that insurance no longer will cover Zoom or audio appointments, SHE WAS 100% WRONG. I had to take off a half day of work and make a 100 mile round trip for this appointment. A staff comes out to the foyer and takes my temp, I make my co-payment and neither one said anything about THE FACT THAT I WAS NOT WEARING A MASK. Sitting in the waiting room a third staff approached me carrying a mask and stated that I needed to wear a mask. I informed her that I had called and was told that the official policy was mask not required. I informed this employee that due to a preexisting medical condition I cannot breathe if I am wearing a mask. The employee again said that a mask is required so I said I was leaving and walked out the door. I called the assistant to Hartke, the assistant said that the policy had just changed, I said why wasn’t I notified of the change. The assistant transferred me to the office manager. I spoke to the office manager he said that the official policy is that they highly encourage the wear of a mask, but the mask is not required. He said the staff member made a mistake, he went on to say that he follows the instructions of his doctor and the CDC. I explained that the CDC does not recommend the wear of the mask by anyone with preexisting medical conditions that prevents them from wearing the mask. He hung-up on me!
