List of Dr. Gurdarshan S. Sandhu, Md's Reviews
Dr. Sandhu and staff are professional and friendly! Dr. Sandhu performed a RALP on me early February of 2025. I am 21 days post op and feeling fantastic. I am very thankful to the entire team for my excellent care!
Always has the time to talk about any questions I might have. Great bedside manner and very professional. Great urologist.
New patient visit lasted less than 10 min. He cam in and started asking questions and typing on computer. He did not introduce himself. Not personable at all. I watched his video he has for Mercy. Sound like a very caring Dr. But I will say he spoke a lot about men's health. Maybe a cultural thing and feels more comfortable with men. I'm a retired nurse. I know how I want to be treated by any of my healthcare team. I love Mercy's standards and values. I think he missed the mark.
Phenomenal urologist. He genuinely cares about his work. He will not dismiss your concerns. I am grateful to be his patient.
This review is so hard for me. It has taken me 2 years to process it all to leave a review in general. In 2022 I had a ureteral injury due to doctor error. My ureter was damaged and needed to be re-implanted. Dr. Sandhu did my surgery along with another surgeon and boy it was a rough recovery. I went into surgery anticipating a small 4 to 6 in incision and woke up to over 30 staples down my stomach. The recovery was extremely painful and I was given limited pain meds. After those meds were gone I reached out requesting something to help as I was still in so much pain but it was a hurdle to get Dr. Sandhu to agree to give me anything else. I understand in today's world so many struggle with pain med addictions but when somebody faces what I went through and asks for medicine- well I do not think one should have to basically beg for help. I had horrible pain from my stent and I constantly complained and felt I was ignored. After my stent was removed and I healed from my procedure within 60 days or less I was having bad pain in my kidney. Which turned out to be reflux and it was intense. I couldn't use the bathroom without feeling like somebody was taking my kidney and squeezing it. I reached out to Dr. Sandhu and after some strong insisting he agreed to put in a second stent in case scar tissue or something had grown in the ureter. After the second stent was removed it was a small window of time before I was in pain again. Dr. Sandhu said and I'm pretty sure the exact words, or super close, were- this is your new normal everything shows to be fine so you need to reach out to pain management to maintain your future. I went to a second Mercy urologist who determined that yes it was reflux in the kidney. She was confused after so much testing she didn't understand why I was having this pain and that the pain just didn't make sense. She too somewhat felt it was my new normal and shared she wasn't sure what to do and recommended I go to SLU Hospital to see what they could do/find. After going to a SLU urologist, a few months in and testing galore, they found that the ureter that Dr. Sandhu had reimplanted did not heal properly and was prolapsing. So it was opening and closing causing drastic pain on a daily basis. 🤯 At that moment I was so mad how could someone not be diligent enough to check their work and listen to their patient who was under 40 years old!! How could someone insist for someone to live their life on pain pills!? Because of the time that lapsed to the second reimplant in April of 2024 the ureter was further damaged and the kidney was extremely scarred. The second reimplant done by SLU did not take because of the lack of care to dig in when I first complained of pain in 2022. In October of 2024, I had no choice but to consider either removing my kidney or consider an auto transplant of the kidney. I chose the auto transplant and we are praying that the kidney heals and functions perfectly fine. My team said it was a sad kidney and it was unfortunate it went through so much that could have been prevented. But we are confident that if we prevent further damage it'll be good to go. 🤞 For 2 years I missed out on so much work, personal things, and more than anything I missed out on my kids. I turned into a person that I didn't even want to be. I was angry all the time because I was in so much pain and I couldn't believe I was living this way. So I leave this review and I shout to everybody ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF and fight to be listened to!! Dig into your doctors and make the right choices. Do not settle for this is your new normal!!!
Dr Sandu was amazing! He definitely turned a terrible kidney stone situation into a smooth process. He was very informative and was upfront about how the procedure would go. I would recommend Dr Sandu to anyone needing help with kidney stones. My life is now back to normal
Very caring - explains everything in detail. And takes the time to answer all my questions.
Really appreciate Dr. Sandhu.
The best doctor I have ever had, cares about his patients and takes time to explain everything. Ethical and smart
Dr. Sandhu is amazing. Great bedside manner. Spot-on diagnosis and tremendous surgical skills. Cannot recommend highly enough.

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
