What a phenomenal doctor, Great guy all around. Knowledgeable, patient and made sure I understood everything that was going on. Would highly recommend. Follow-up was amazing, and His staff made sure everything was okay after surgery.

Best surgeon around for this

It's not that Dr. Murphy didn't tell me what I hoped to hear. It was the way he dismissed me abruptly, with attitude and arrogance. He may be a good doctor but he is a terrible person.

This man gave me my life back. I had been in so much pain for 2 years from a damaged ureter. Another doctor had tried and failed many times to repair my ureter. Dr. Murphy saved my kidney and gave me my life back. I had been in a wheelchair from pain for over a year. I really felt my life was over because the pain was so bad and he gave me a life back. I can never thank him and his team enough. I've went back to college and have my life again. I'm out of a wheelchair and my kidney is working 100%.

Excellent care from Dr Murphy. He did an excellent job fixing my urethral stricture.

Awful. My recommendation spend your money elsewhere. Waited over a month to spend less than 5 minutes with Dr. Murphy. So dismissive and disappointing. As long as you can urinate he feels your fine...we were told he was one the top doctors in our area. If that's true that makes me horribly sad for our area. Now we are on the search for a real doctor that feels comfortable looking at my husband's original (Dr. Brandes's handiwork) problem. Just beware, definitely not worth the wait.

Greg as a doctor is amazing and very genuine and sincere… but, he failed in a few areas that will forever affect my quality of life. He failed to discuss things about my male anatomy that would change after surgery but he wrote in my report that he did explains these things… before my surgery I asked what the short term and long term side affects would be post surgery and he never mentioned to me what I’m experiencing. If I could go back I would not have had the surgery performed based on the side affects I’m experiencing. I warn anyone undergoing surgery with doctor Murphy or Washington University in general to do research on your surgery prior and be well aware that students will be performing your surgery under Dr. Murphy’s supervision. While I do not believe that he himself is not competent, I do believe that students can make life changing errors that can not be reversed. Avoid learning hospitals at all cost.

He is great save my life after years of trouble

Dr. Murphy gave me my life back. For 2 years I was very sick. I was constantly in the ER and was sent home with no answers. When I couldn't even walk down the hallway of my home anymore my husband took me to a hospital in another town. That doctor tried 7 procedures which all failed so he sent me to St.Louis. Before all this I traveled the US with my husband's job. I had a life and it felt gone. I had almost given up and then I met the surgeon who gave my life back. Dr. Murphy was very friendly. He never treated me like I was ignorant like some doctors had in the past. He promised to do all he could to help and he did just that. He fixed my kidney 100%. No more swelling, no more serve pain and ER trips. I've been in and out of hospitals, had surgeries since age 4 but nothing compared to this pain from my kidney. I still have medical problems outside of that but I can walk now! I can go get the mail again and take my dog to puppy classes. I can play with my kids and not be sick all the time. I can never express my gratitude fully. That is worth so much more than words can say. I highly recommend him and the wonderful team who saved my life and gave my kids their mom back.

Had to have resection of urethra, and we were told of the best Doctor to go see for procedure. If you are in need to get a urinary problem fixed, go see the best in the Mid-West! Very friendly office and staff! The paperwork is right on time with my employer.
