This morning, I took my wife to see doctor Sweeney, to address concerns brought up on spinal MRI imaging. We waited an hour and a half past her appointment time before he came into the room. When he did finally come in, she asked if he had seen the images or just read the radiologist's report. He told her that he always looks at the images, because he doesn't trust the radiologists. He then asked her why she's in a wheelchair, because he didn't see anything to indicate a need (despite the fact that her GP and rheumatologist have long since confirmed the need). He launched into a rant about her spine looking good for someone her age, not giving her an opportunity to express her concerns. She finally broke in enough to ask if she could talk. She told him she had four main concerns, and began telling him about the first. He interrupted her almost immediately to tell her there was nothing in the images to support what her thought she was saying (completely misunderstanding what she was attempting to say), and would not stop talking. She attempted to continue what she was saying, but he just talked over her. I attempted to speak, and he would not stop until I literally yelled at him. He continued being very condescending to her, and directing all his explanations to me. She asked about a specific finding from the radiologist report. Her told her (me) that he thinks the radiologist was just being "overzealous", and tried to make the test to forget anyone it sounds as frightening as possible. We both have medical backgrounds and are familiar already with the procedure he described, and it is nowhere near as bad as he made it sound. Overall, we were left with the distinct impressions that he thought A) she was a crazy woman who couldn't understand him, B) she was being hysterical about her pain, and C) we were doing nothing but wasting his time. She would have been fine with being told "I'm sorry, it looks like your pain is soft tissue related, and you'd be better off seeing a neurologist", but his condescension and refusal to even listen to her were simply unacceptable.

I would highly recommend Dr. Sweeney. He is excellent all around. It’s so hard to find a Dr. who is not only knowledgeable in their field but also has excellent bedside manner and Dr. Sweeney has it all.

I am one month post-op cervical spine fusion performed by Dr. Sweeney. I cannot express how happy I am with the results, let alone the entire process with Dr Sweeney. He has an excellent “bedside manner” as well as taking the time to answer all my questions and explaining the surgical process in detail. A very serious car accident left me in constant pain. The relief I have now is life changing. I would not hesitate to entrust Dr Sweeney with my friends and family care.

Made me feel for comfortable and at ease with the complicated procedure he was about to perform. He also made me feel confident after it was over.

My husband was in terrible pain when we went to see Dr. Sweeney. He listened to us and explained the approach he would take to help us. He took all the time we needed to make us feel comfortable with our decision to go forward with the surgery. The spinal fusion surgery was scheduled and he made us feel at ease on the day of the surgery. It has been 3 months and my husband has had a remarkable recovery. He is walking with little or no pain!! We would highly recommend Dr. Sweeney to anyone who needs neurosurgery.

I highly recommend Dr. Sweeney. He is very knowledgeable about the brain and I am quite happy I chose him to take my tumor out!! He also has a great bedside manner and explains everything so you can understand.

Dr. Justin Sweeney is an execellent Neurosurgeon. Great bedside manner, listens, responds and explains things in a manner that a non-medical person can understand. I would highly recommend Dr. Sweeney for your surgical needs. I've had 4 surgeries with him and I'm confidant each time that I will get THE BEST care from beginning to end!

Suffered with Trigeminal Neuralgia for years (and MS). The pain became unbearable and was terrified of surgery. He is confident and attentive and skilled. Pain free from balloon compression procedure. Even my neurologist was impressed that there was NO MORE pain and had never seen such great success. Our response was - well, maybe your patients are not seeing the right surgeon! See Dr. Sweeney - no one else for TN!

My experience with Dr. Sweeney and staff, from initial consultation through follow-ups after surgery, has been phenomenal. Dr. Sweeney’s expertise, patience, calming bedside manner, and ability to clearly and effectively communicate was tremendously appreciated. Furthermore, it was evident that my confidence and opinion was a top priority in decision making. Considering my situation and medical needs, I am completely satisfied with all services and would not choose to go anywhere else.
