List of Matthew V Smith's Reviews
Dr Smith does not like it when you ask questions or question his treatment plan. Takes weeks before staff gets back to you on the portal. When something is forward to Dr. Smith by his staff, he doesn't seem to care what your thoughts are. If you don't agree with it, he will not give you other options. You either do what he recommends or he's finished with you. He's real adiment about injections. He will not give you other options until you get one. The worst bedside manner I've ever encountered. If I could give a ZERO I would. Oh, and if you work in the Healthcare field and know your stuff, he doesn't care what you think is going on and will actually ignore you more.
First and foremost, Dr. Smith is an exceptional surgeon. Along with that, he makes sure all of your questions are answered, and is very caring and compassionate. He deserves more than 5 stars in my book!
My daughter who is a competitive gymnast has seen Dr Smith due to shoulder injuries. He has the best bedside manner of any physician I have seen for my family’s care. He speaks directly to my daughter and respects her opinion and desires when it comes to her treatment options. He also is just an overall, very nice guy. I highly recommend him for all of the athletes in your family!
Great visit, with Dr. Smith, I felt very secure with his knowledge with what was going on with my knee, he gave me great options to consider. I felt I was in great hands.
Great surgeon. Answers your questions and explains everything so you will understand it. Great bed side manner. I told him that he needs to be just a Family Practice doctor. Would love to have a primary doctor like him. I can't say enough good things about him.
Dr. Smith did my MPFL reconstruction and loose body removal. He genuinely cared about how my knee was and how I was.
Dr Smith is an amazing doctor with great bedside manner. He seems to truly love his patients and is very gentle and fun loving
Definitely liked him before I had my surgery but after meeting a lot of the staff and him afterwards, I will definitely not be coming back or seeing him again. At the end of one of my appointments, he said to me, "Oh and tell your mom hello in a very condescending, malicious, and sexual tone." I hope he understands that his career is in jeopardy and he pays for his mistakes. This is not the first time I was have been disrespected having surgery at WashU. The first time I had surgery, they experimented on my shoulder but filling up balloons and then popping them while my fingers were in a hole. The second time I had surgery, I woke up half way through and the lady said, "You are way too small to play football." Then, the anesthesiologist said, "Can you hear her?" I replied with, "Yes." He responded with, "Oh, ok, go to sleep." I also shadowed a surgeon there and witnessed some disgusting comments while 'attractive' women were their patients. I HIGHLY recommend not having your parents, kids, and especially daughters work or have surgery at WashU.
Dr smith helped not only get back into biking and soccer, but he knew that I needed to get back to work. I work a physically demanding job for the railroad , and was skeptical I'd be back at 100 percent within the time period . From a broken tibia and torn lateral and medial meniscus , to riding 10 miles a day and hitting spikes within a month and a half of surgery . Thanks dr smith!
Excellent doctor, very professional, great bedside manners, very good at what he does!! I had torn 3 of my 4 tendons off the hipbone in an accident and he was able to re-attach and I am back to walking, roller skating and doing the things I love. I can't thank you enough!!!! Highly recommended!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
