List of Vivo Dermatology And Skin Surgery's Reviews
If I could rate this place lower I would. My concerns were ignored for 2 visits about an issue I knew my child had. Rebecca misdiagnosed my child twice. Then she prescribed medicine that wasn’t even necessary and I had to run a specific test on my daughter the 3rd visit. It was a infectious skin disease the was neglecting so long by the time my daughter got the right meds I was infected. This could’ve all been avoided had she listened to.
I was extremely disappointed and surprised by my experience with Vivo Dermatology. I contacted the office because I wanted to schedule an appointment and was fully prepared to pay the self-pay rate out of pocket. I was told that they would not accept me as a self-pay patient simply because I have Healthy Blue Medicaid, and that the visit would have to be reported to my insurance. I understand that medical practices have their own policies regarding insurance and billing, but I found this experience extremely frustrating. I was not asking them to bill Medicaid—I was willing to pay for the appointment myself. Being denied the opportunity to do so solely because I have Medicaid felt discriminatory to me. What was especially disappointing was the lack of a clear explanation as to why I could not simply be treated as a self-pay patient. The experience left me feeling like I was being treated differently because of the insurance coverage I have, despite being willing and able to pay out of pocket. I hope Vivo Dermatology will reconsider this policy and provide clearer, more transparent information to patients about their self-pay options. Unfortunately, based on this interaction, I will be seeking care elsewhere.
Attentive staff who provided multiple options and explained throughly for my understanding
Office is owned by a skilled dermatologist (Dr. Huang) and staffed by excellence nurse practioners. Appointments are necessary. It is located in Tower A on the 5th floor at Mercy Hospital. It is run independently of the Mercy Hospital System.
I am super happy to find Dr Huang. She has the creds, she's thorough, and her stitches are as good as any plastics Dr. I had a MOHS last year. You'd never know right now. She is not your usual cut and say it's good Derm. I'm older. I've been there. She is good. Journey (SP?) is also on it with insurance. I know that skin med things are often not covered by ins, but she will find options to help financially. As I side note, I grew up in 70-80s SoCal and spent many summers in the sun...so I have lots of things to look at. It is worth whatever ins does not pay to get checked out
Dr. Huang is knowledgeable physician who is great at explaining and creating accepting environment for her patients. Always willing to answer all of your questions. Office staff from Journee to Luke are always there to help and going above and beyond on making sure that you receive your medication in timely manner despite insurance hiccups. Amazing office and atmosphere. 10/10
I had a wonderful experience with Sarah, she was super professional and was willing to answer any questions I had! I unfortunately had a very different experience with the front desk. I was ridiculed for being late, after I called to give notice and explained my insurance still had their old address listed. I was also still there within the 15 minute timeframe. I totally understand that this is annoying but as a first time patient this was really off putting. Later, I received my bill in the mail only to realized my insurance wasn’t applied after I had emailed them all of my current information. This resulted in a 30 minute ordeal trying to get that straightened out. Overall, the dermatologist was great but the front desk/billing need some improvement.
Great experience as a first timer! Great dermatology office, wonderful and warm staff! Dr. Huang and the staff were professional, friendly and ensured that I was properly informed about my health and care. The front desk ladies were very helpful, simply awesome! I walked away very impressed and that's why I highly recommend Vivo Dermatology.
I am 60 ish, and red headed so I go to the dermatologist often. They are extremely kind, waiting room is fast, about 5 minutes, front desk people are very nice with some light humor. They are very good dermatologist.
Excellent experience. Dr. Huang combines professionalism and efficiency with a comfortable bedside manner.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
