$4500 for a respiratory infection. Was in the waiting room at the ER for 2 hours, treated for less than 2 hours. Never received a room, just in a hallway somewhere. Never received fluids. Charged $450 for a covid test. $2700 just for the visit. What a gigantic scam. I won't go back here unless I'm on my deathbed. I plan on contacting the state AG to let them know what they claim a covid test costs.
Don't go here. Especially if you present with multiple symptoms and psychiatric concerns. They did serial blood tests and IV fluids to even remotely address the primary concern I came in with. Then I sat in the psych ER room for nearly 3 days and a total of 4 people were even remotely nice to me. Two of them were sitters (as far as inside the hospital; the psychiatric nurse practitioner and the psychiatrist were nice but seen on video) and one of them was Dr. Emily Cloessen. I was woken up at one point by a painful nasal spray and then heard the staff who were in the room leave and laugh about it (they never fully shut my door so I could hear) and they continued to talk about it throughout the day with their coworkers). One of them came back to give me tissues as I sat there crying while the mucus ran out of my nose. I refused to open my eyes because I didn't want to lose my cool on them. I never received my daily medication even though the psychiatric nurse practitioner said she noticed the hospital hadn't ordered it and would tell them about it, at 3 am when I asked for an update on my plan of care (one and only time I asked) no one came to speak with me, they told my husband there was no where for me to go but never bothered to tell me, my husband called multiple times for an update and they didn't call him until 11 PM (on day 2), they were rude to him when he tried to call and talk to me, and then this morning after no less than 3 total assessments across the days they were like hey still want to go home? And they got me out in less than 10 minutes! I know ERs aren't equipped to handle psych emergencies but, dang. It's not even what I presented for. These people made me want to die more than when I had come in. I won't go back. Ever.
Paula, Bim, Techs and Regina(Chef) were all FANTASTIC! I’ve had mediocre care here before but this time I got great care. Except, the nurses in the ER. The ER doctor was REALLY good however. That’s the ONLY reason I’m giving my visit a 4 instead of 5.
My husband sustained multiple fractures from a fall on the ice & the ED took great care of him! He as discharged, but needed to return, by ambulance, & again received great care! He was admitted for pain control & oxygen, His rib fractures were the worst, making it difficult to breath. The nursing staff were the best! The attending Physician was knowledgeable & attentive. The PT & OT were remarkable! We are very appreciative for their care! Please take into consideration that this small hospital only has 110 beds. The ED also has limited space. My husband went from a cramped small room to a larger ED room to a, "Post Op room - as a holding area for admission. Other patients have to expire or be discharged to make room for new patients. Some are transferred to Big Barnes. This hospital does the best they can to serve our large, growing, communities. Thanks BJC👍❤
I had the worst experience, ever. I waited for 2 hrs 15 minutes to get a room. Only 14 rooms, but squeezing 60 patients. Including patients waiting in the hallway. No room for patients. Not enough staffing, was forgotten for almost 2 hrs.
I had a surgery scheduled for the morning traffic was bad so I was late it was no problem! Lauren was amazing in the surgery department!! She made laugh and cry and just generally a AMAZING person definitely deserves a raise!! Everyone on my care team made sure I was comfortable and explained all the steps they were taking! Usually don't have the best experiences with hospitals or doctors but 10/10 for me!
On 1/17/2024 I went to the bjc saint peters hospital. It was the closest and I have been treated so well by the er doctors previously. I have Functional neurological disorder that has been diagnosed by neurologists and psychiatry. It started after a fourth bout of covid on 11/2022 and I have never been the same. My symptoms are paralysis, muscle weakness, speech problems, body pain, nerve pain, panic attacks, personality changes, swallowing problems, abnormal movements(tics or twitches), non epileptic seizures, catatonia, vision problems, hearing problems, facial and muscle drooping, and confusion or memory loss. More than likely I had this previously from my past trauma and ptsd(most of you know), but covid exacerbated it. Unfortunately with all these new and crazy symptoms when it comes to the emergency rooms I have been a frequent flyer. Sometimes the symptoms make me feel like I am dying and especially when most of my symptoms mimic a stroke or heart attack it is always better safe than sorry. Plus I do fall alot so I am injured often due to my muscles giving out or due to seizures. With fnd all my test results come back normal. Ive had a million dollar workup and all normal. Thats how we know this is fnd. So back to this past Thursday. I have a facial droop on my left side and left sided numbness on that whole side. Basically I am paralyzed from my face to my feet on my left side. I was confused, I was only saying one word over and over again and relatively unresponsive. Could be a stroke so we go in. Multiple tests are run and thank god no stroke. We now know this is fnd however our living situation has changed where my disability isn’t physically supported(no access to wheelchair or anything like that) and I have never have left sided paralysis like this. Ive always had my arms. Arms i can use a wheelchair or army crawl and get around and now I can’t. The only treatment for my condition is talk therapy to help identify triggers and pt(usually an inpatient rehab is best depending on the flare symptoms). Unfortunately Dr.H(what we will call him) claimed I was attention seeking and attempted to discharge me. Knowing now what this is and my treatment, this was unsafe and I needed in patient rehab. I refused discharge. My neurologist was amazing and knew what was going on, my nurses were fantastic and advocated for me, a psychiatrist(which dr.h demanded) knew this was fnd and knew this wasn’t attention seeking. My pt and ot people in the hospital were amazing and knew that this was fnd and I needed in patient rehabilitation. Everyone but dr.h agreed and knew what to do. Apparently though dr.h rules all and decided to again discharge me unsafely, without a patient advocate, without consideration of advice from other specialists that specialize in fnd, and without a social worker present. Police were called and I was told I would leave or arrest me for trespassing which they were very well going to do all because of dr.h. While fnd is mental illness it is also neurological because your mental brain decides to causes your nerves and other signals to be blocked. Theres no physical issue but the symptoms are real and there are no meds or cures. Just different forms of therapy. I was treated like a criminal and unfortunately this happens to so many like me. It was shocking. Afterwards due to the stress and trauma of this ordeal it caused a severe episode of catatonia and non epileptic seizures. During catatonia I was blinking but completely unresponsive. Catatonia is an emergency so to a new hospital we went. Unfortunately due to dr.h’s notes on my file after just being discharged previously I was again called a liar and attention seeking by another hospital and they discharged me too. My voice is no longer a stutter, it is gone, my left leg is still paralyzed. My arm does its own thing but it is still numb so I can’t feel it at all. My primary and other doctors are getting me the help I need now. Please share this. No one should go through this. FND and other mental or neurological disorders are real.
I want to thank the staff that were involved in my procedure in the Endoscopy department on 12-19-2023. Kelli RN (Pre/Post), Sarah RN (OR), Mario (CRNA), Dr. Bader, Vickie (PCT) and Dr. Jared Miller all took great care of me before, during and after the colonoscopy. I was treated with respect and dignity and felt like my well being was their top priority. I can't forget to mention Ebony in admissions that got me signed in and took care of the paperwork. Stellar job and I highly recommend BJC for getting quality care. Thanks to all of you!!!
They are always slow, very rude, they don’t take your pain seriously, waited with chest pain in the Ed for over 4 hours they didn’t run any test, no X-ray no ekg , just left me sitting in the waiting area with pain. This is the worst hospital out of the Bjc networks, I only come cause it’s close to my house.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
