Anna P. Huger's Online Review Report Card

My daughter (14 years old) has been a patient of Dr. Huger's since she was a newborn! She is very personable, does a great job answering our questions and makes both of us feel very comfortable. So much so that she actually enjoys going to the doctor! I am very impressed with her follow-up. Whenever my daughter has taken ill, or we have called seeking a referral for a specialist, Dr. Huger has called us back personally and has given us some great referrals! I highly recommend!

"Dr. Anna Huger is the kindest pediatrician I have ever met. She takes so much time with every family and even never makes anyone feel rushed. She makes follow up calls with her patients well into the evening, and always stays on the phone until every question is answered. I cannot imagine a better pediatrician for a new parent. I know that lately she has taken over her former partner's practice (I'm told her partner is no longer with Washington University) and her staff told me that she managed to keep almost all of the former doctor's patients in the practice (and they seem really happy to see her). No one who knows Dr. Huger would be surprised to hear that. She is just the best. I highly recommend her. "

I called the exchange line after the Children's ER from Missouri Baptist told me to call and have the order for the nebulizer sent to the pharmacy. After speaking with the exchange nurse initially she called Dr. Huger then called me back to tell me that Dr. Huger said I'd have to wait on a nebulizer because they're only available in office and an order cannot be sent for them to a pharmacy. I called the exchange line after the Children's ER from Missouri Baptist told me to call and have the order for the nebulizer sent to the pharmacy. After speaking with the exchange nurse initially she called Dr. Huger then called me back to tell me that Dr. Huger said I'd have to wait on a nebulizer because they're only available in office and an order cannot be sent for them to a pharmacy. I knew this to be incorrect from my experience with my oldest son. I told her that it can be filled through a pharmacy and she continued to tell me what Dr. Huger said and repeated a couple of times that Dr. Huger told me that I can just go to the Children's downtown if I need to take him to the doctor. The nurse asked me if I would like our pcp to call me and I told her yes. Instead I received a call from Dr. Huger. Dr. Huger proceeded to tell me that the nebulizer could not be received at a pharmacy. I told her that it can be filled at some pharmacies. She continued to tell me that a nebulizer is equipment and equipment isn't at pharmacies, that she's never done that before, and they're typically received in the office. I let her know that I had gotten one from a pharmacy before. She then rudely asked "Well why aren't you using that one then?" I let her know that I got that one a while ago and I need to have some things updated on it. She said "they don't need to be updated. They all work the same way." so I went into more detail and said that "over time the machines can stop functioning well and require parts or servicing from the medical equipment company". She then said "oh well if it's not working properly you can't use it" as if I didn't already clearly know that. She asked which pharmacies I had used before that had the nebulizers which I told her were the walgreens on union and the walgreens on lindell. She asked if I had the numbers so I looked them up for her but after taking the number for the walgreens on union she sighed and cut me off when I was trying to give her the second number saying "we'll try union and if that doesn't work out then I'll let you know when I call you back". I said that it would cut down on time and calls if she would take the second number down now just in case. She said "well I have to call you back anyway". I said " I understand you need to call me back but to cut down and the back and forth calls, wouldn't it be better to have the second number now so you can go ahead and call them if need be?" She scoffed then told me to give her the number. After getting the number she said she'd give them a call then call me back. I said "ok thank you" then she hung up the phone. When she called back she said the Walgreens on Union would be closing soon but the Lindell location had the order and would try to fill it for me. I said "Ok thank you so much. Have a great one." and she again just hung up the phone. I am absolutely disgusted with how she spoke to me and with the fact that she wanted the nurse to make it clear to me that I can just take my son to the Children's downtown. As a partner, she should know that when asked our pcp's office staff tells your patients to go to Missouri Baptist but regardless of that I take my son where I want to take him and feel he will get the best care. It's not up to her to tell me where I can "just" take my son. I honestly feel like I would not be talked to this way and told to just go to the hospital in the city when it's clearly not my hospital of choice if I wasn't African American. I would not recommend anyone bring their children to Dr. Huger as she seems to be bothered by the need to care and support those she's supposed to be serving and acts in prejudice.

Our family looks forward to seeing Dr. Huger, and it's the best part of getting sick or having a checkup! We've never seen any other pediatrician, and her confident, engaging and reassuring demeanor makes the visits all the more enjoyable. She makes the overwhelming and complicated simple and manageable. Her advice is down to earth, and she is very thorough. We're in good hands here at Purely Pediatrics.

Dr. Anna Huger is hands down the best pediatrician in the area in my opinion. After 14 years with her caring for our children when they are ill or keeping up with yearly well checks, Dr. Huger’s attentiveness and compassion for my family and our health makes us feel like we’re part of her family. From daily Nicu visits when my twins were not well, to evening phone calls to check in on a sick kid when they were older, I’ve always felt reassured my kids were in good hands and well taken care of. Her office is convenient, well maintained, and the staff is exceptional. As my kids have grown and we don’t have visits as often, my kids have asked “when are we going to Dr. Huger’s office again?” because they miss her. How many parents can say that?! Call the office and have a visit. You will not be disappointed.

Dr Huger is an incredible Pediatrician! She was my two daughters doctor for over twenty years. She always takes the time to make her patients and parents comfortable each and every visit to the office. Her office staff is very kind and efficient and we never had a problem getting an appointment when we needed one. It is very rare to find a doctor that combines such personal touches and care for a patient while also providing outstanding medical care. I highly recommend Dr Huger!!

I have known Anna Huger for over 10 years, first as her twin boys Nanny for 4 years and now as her family's dog and house sitter. I am also happy to call her my friend. She is a kind warm lovely woman who cares for her patients as if they were her own. Any child who has her as their pediatrician is in great hands.
