I moved out of the area for awhile after seeing her as my doctor for approx 2 yrs. Being a nurse for15 + it is a rarity to find a jewel like her. Great bedsidexmanner, listens to her patients and offers several solutions. I'm back and looking forward to my next check up !

I was seen by Dr. Phelps for recurring headaches. After discussing in depth about them and the options we discussed obtaining a CAT scan. We talked about my insurance and how much I would have to pay out of pocket as I have a high deductible ($2500). She said she was not sure of the price, left the room, came back and told me the cost would be $1,100 to $1,200. I had the CAT scan done; she also ordered a view of the sinuses. Several months went by and I got a bill from the hospital for $2500.00, my entire deductible, the total bill was around $3,900. I called to see why the bill was so high and they said because I was being charged for two CAT scans, for each view. I called my doctor to see why she would quote me the amount that she did and her nurse told me she didn't know the price of a CAT scan, further more she was sorry for the situation but there was nothing they could do to help. I'm very unhappy, I have a huge bill to pay for that should have been half that.
