There was no attempt by dr rau or staff to understand or treat my elderly fathers condition. We stuck with him for 2 years in hopes he would gather the information on his health condition and help him. I had to brief dr rau on dads health issues every visit while he typed and looked at his computer. I totally let my dad down by not finding a better dr. Dr rau is probably a good dr for simple things or mild type 2 diabetes as that was the only thing he seemed to know about. He made us feel we were not worthy of his time. I felt guilty bothering him for his time and thought we shouldn’t have been there. Not once did he or staff check on dad in the hospital or nursing home. He had very serious infections and had sepsis 3 times with multiple trips to the er. Dr rau believes you should be very sympathetic before being treated for infections. So beware and don’t make the same mistakes that we did. Dad paid the price.

Dr. Rau is both mine and my Father's GP and he is fantastic. Everything one would want in a PCP (Primary Care Physician)

Dr. Rau is one of the best doctors in Washington, Missouri. He is extremely calm, caring, understanding and very intelligent. All of these qualities come through in his exams and discussions with you. He makes sure you are receiving the most current tests available if he sees any reason for concern. He was able to get my husband to a specialist after one of the tests Dr. Rau recommended showed a possible blocked artery. Dr. Rau's concerns turned out to be the case and probably saved my husband's life if he hadn't ordered the original tests or had ignored my husband symptoms. (My husband was feeling some shortness of breath while out mowing the grass or walking up stairs.) I feel confident recommending Dr. Rau to anyone and he would be wonderful for any needed second opinions as well. In addition to being a wonderful doctor, he seems like a genuinely wonderful human being.
