List of Terry Smith's Reviews
My first surgery! Dr. Smith is hands down amazing. My spine and I greatly appreciate appreciate him.
My husband was in an accident and had multiple serious injuries. After getting out of the hospital in Mobile, our insurance referred us to Dr Smith since he was closer to where we live. Our appointment was rushed, and he said he couldn't see imaging to give us clearance for a much needed surgery. I proceeded to go pick up more imaging and took to his office. They never called me back, even though I told the staff more than once that we were waiting every single day as he badly needed surgery, but needed Dr Smith to look at images. We missed an entire week of being able to get surgery. I had to keep calling to finally get told, "well he has a cervical fracture, so he won't clear it". I told him that the day of our first appointment! That was the whole point! He caused my husband to almost be permanently disabled because he almost missed being able to have surgery. He should have seen the initial images that were there! If he would never clear a cervical fracture, he should have said so up front at the first visit. He gave me ZERO information on my husband's brain injury. No info, what to expect, what to do. Nothing. He caused delays in getting surgery, and was horrible to deal with. I feel bad for his staff. Not only poor bedside manor, but incompetent in my book. (After wasting over a week with Dr Smith-who did nothing, we finally got a different neurological surgeon who cleared him for surgery. ) Beware. Just because your insurance sends you here, do some research and go elsewhere. Since this happened, I've talked to 2 people who had horrible results and injuries after using him.
If you ever have back issues and are referred to a neurosurgeon on the coast, do NOT go to Dr. Terry Smith. His office is the biggest joke ever. They don't fax records to disability, they mail them and it took 3 1/2 weeks to get them (I had to go to his office 40 min away and pay to get them myself just to send to disability so I didn't lose my claim). Now that he's doing another 30 days off, my disability company faxed him the form to fill out LAST Wed. morning and I went to his office (40 min away) to pick that up and to sign the release to have my records emailed to me so my disability gets them sooner than his office mails them out, only to find out he hadn't filled it out yet. I've called last Fri only to be told he fills out his papers over the weekend. I call Mon to be told he didn't do it and is in surgery all day. They call me today because they need my disability to fax over another form because they lost the first one. Worst office ever!
Dr.Smith saved my life almost 5 years ago when I needed an emergency surgery. Now that I have another neurological issue, it was a simple choice who I wanted to care for me. He made it easy to get my diagnosis and a treatment including surgery later down the line if needed. He answered all my questions and I was in and out of the office in less than 30 minutes. Thank you Dr.Smith for all you've done for me!
Dr. Smith is the best thing that’s ever happened to me! I couldn’t walk upright for years at 27 years and he fixed me. Right after my surgery I felt so great I cried!
Back surgery 14 years ago no problem since.
He is an Excellent Surgeon; he performed a procedure on my lower back and, soon, my neck.
Dr. Smith was very polite and professional. He told me exactly why I am having neck issues. The receptionist was very polite and kind as well. Very satisfied with my appointment today.
Three and a half years ago Terry Smith did surgery on my back. Microdiscectomy L4 L5. When the surgery was complete I woke with drop foot. I've had it ever since. His cavalier attitude about it was the worst.
Thank you Dr. Smith, the fusion surgery has corrected the nerve pain I had running down my arm constantly and I am healing nicely.. you are truly a blessing sent from Heaven.. continue the great work!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
