David C Portnoy's Online Review Report Card

Sadly, I have had to recommend Dr. Portnoy to friends diagnosed with Cancer & I didn’t have to think twice about it.. He is caring and thorough, personal yet professional. He makes me feel like I’m the only person on his schedule. He is fantastic and deserves 10 stars.

He is a great Dr. Very smart and told me everything that I would go through. Recommend me for a trial. Which I signed up for. Research program for my type of cancer. I loved him. He ordered pet scan & MRI right away and I got my first treatment in 5 weeks.

He missed the fact that I had multiple myeloma, a blood/bone marrow cancer, for 2 years! My PCP caught it and said it had been showing in my blood tests he had done for over 2 yrs. I would NEVER recommend him to anyone! He rushes people in and out like they are cattle at an auction. Maybe had he took the time to really look at my tests, I would have longer to live.

I have seen several medical professionals here with great satisfaction but now I am assigned to David Portnoy and it is horrible. He could care less about a patients health concerns based on his performance. I went to Brighton office for an infusion on July 9 and after setting in a chair for two hours I asked the nurse what the hold up was and she informed me that they could do nothing until Doctor Portnoy sent the prescription. Five hour later I left from my one hour appointment. I needed anI appointment for July 23 and called on Monday the 16th and left word about it and no one called me back. By the way their phone service is deplorable you wait and wait and even if you try to option for the call back the option * key does not work. So I call back on the 17th again about my concern for my next treatment and appointment. This time they assured me that someone would call so I waited with phone in hand. Wednesday of this week I let it slide and then this morning I called with a firmer voice and was told they were sending a priority message right now STAT whatever that means. Eight and one half hours later nothing nada me with phone in hand waiting my life away for the call that never comes. I call back and after an hour I get through and am passed five times until I reached that point that you never want to reach while listening to pretty guitar music on the phone. I landed on Customer Service. I asked to speak to someone in administration. Naturally they want me to go through my issue and then I am told that they can only send a message to supervisor and I will have to wait. Monday is the date of my next treatment and Doctor Portnoy and his Nurse Practioner are both scheduled to be off that day. Is that great timing I hope they have fun at whatever they are doing because they sure aren't concerned about patient care or their customer. It is hard to breach the castle to get action and West Clinic has done a great job of blocking their customers right out in the street. Did I tell you that their phone system stinks!

Very Intelligent Oncologist. He saved my life. Truly cares about his patients and does his job in an efficient manner. Very intelligent, it’s no wonder he instructs medical students.

I would not recommend ANYONE to Dr. Portnoy for treatment. He did NOTHING to help my husband. I believe he though my husband was a waste of time because of the type of cancer he had. My husband's condition worsened because he and his incompetent nurse's delaying on approving with his insurance different treatments. They herded us in and out like we were bothering them. No concern what so ever for my husband's care or the pain he was suffering. I would not seek treatment if he were my option.

I love Dr Portnoy! Great bed side mannor!

Dr Portnoy always has a big smile on his face and seems to be really pleased that I am doing well.
