Parvez Karim's Online Review Report Card

The 1 star is not for Dr. Karim, but it is for the front office staff who is setting appointments for him to see new patients. One of my parents needed to see a Dr. and a friend, who spoke very highly of Dr. Karim, recommended him. My parent had to go complete paperwork, in order to even get an appointment. The person who initially helped them Monday was short, and tried to refer them to a Nurse Practitioner, and they had already gone that route and really needed to see the Dr. My parent didn't let the front desk attendant's attitude get next to them on the initial visit. However, after returning the paperwork and being advised they would be contacted the next day, my parent did become slightly distressed. The next morning, my parent called to confirm the documents were received and the person on the phone advised they would call back later that morning with the appointment confirmation. They didn't call, so my parent called after lunch, and received the answering service. They called later on in the afternoon, and still got the answering service. They called the next morning (6/9), and the person who answered had a very poor attitude with my elderly parent. My parent decided to find another Dr., And they didn't have to go through any hoops to be seen THE SAME DAY, and the front office staff was very kind, as well as the Dr. Dr. Karim, please have the front office staff understand that they set the tone for your patients' experience. They have the ability to help save lives by welcoming new patients in and assuring them that you will take care of their needs. But if patients are greeted with attitudes and don't receive call backs for appointments, they are risking people's lives, because patients can get discouraged by the attitudes and lack of communication, and end up not seeking out the treatment they need, because they don't want to deal with interactions like this. Since we didn't get to see Dr. Karim, we cannot hold anything against him, but he should talk to his front office staff about how to treat his potential patients. Because of their poor attitudes, and lack of response, he lost a new patient.

Dr. Karim was very thorough, coming to see me every day in the hospital and answering any questions I had. He provided any help I needed in recovering from Covid19. Because of his care I survived. I was a high-risk 75 year old.
