Peter Bernheim's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Bernheim seemed very uninterested and didn't listen to my symptoms very well. Almost as if he didn't believe me. After getting a second opinion he became upset and "ended our professional relationship". Thankfully, the other GI doctor actually took care of my issues and treated me well.

Ok, I went to different Dr. for a procedure. Bernheim office called and informed me they will no longer see me. Reason being they have a policy That if went a different Dr. they will no longer see me. Shame after years of seeing me they still did not want to provide their service. Charles H.

Beware! After many years as a patient, Dr. Bernheim, I had a problem that he shrugged off as me being a complainer. I ended up in the ER and immediately admitted to the hospital with a life threatening condition which required a very complex surgery. This is all because of his lack of attention to detail. I feel that maybe he is near retirement but no excuse. I would not refer anyone to Dr. Bernheim.

My husband and I have had Dr Bernheim for many years. My husband was having a number of issues and after many appointments and medicine changes Dr. Bernheim was unable to offer him much relief. We asked if we could possibly get a second opinion. We were told that if we went to New Orleans or alabama, it would be okay BUT if we were going to anyone in MISSISSIPPI, Dr. Bernheim would no longer be my husbands doctor. When asked if he could see someone else in the practice. We were told NO! That would not be an option. What a sad state of affairs! I was very sad to hear this is their policy. We went to a Dr. in Hattiesburg and to our very happy surprise, after describing the issues and leave with not only a diagnosis, but with medicine samples and a prescription for this medication. Because of the close proximity of our home to Dr. Bernheim's office, we truly hated to leave him, BUT certainly grateful for the diagnosis our new Dr. was able to provide.

Seen Bernheim 3xs now. 1st 2 appts regular checkups.Bernheim asked a few questions & quickly finished the visit with, ok, all good, see you in 2 years.Then I had a trip to the ER, extreme abdominal pain, cramps, loose stool.CT showed evidence of possible enteritis. I followed up with Bernheim.When I showed him CT, he literally shoved the papers aside & said he's not interested in that, tell me your symptoms.So I did, but he was short with me, not interested in my opinion, kept cutting me off.

Just an arrogant, cocky guy. Didn't explain anything. Told me colonoscopy was just fine. On my way out of this 2 minute visit, I said, "so I'm good for 10 years." This meaning that my next colonoscopy would be in 10 years. He replied, "no, with what you have, you need to have another in 3 years." This after I was just told everything was fine. He was irritated with my very appropriate simple question. Walked out never knowing what I had. This year I saw a gastroenterologist in Ocean Springs that I was very pleased with. Well worth the drive. He spent considerable time with me. Before leaving the o.p. surgical center, I had a full report of both my scopes that even included multiple excellent quality photos of stomach, small and large intestines, etc.

In and out. Gave no explanations. Seemed irritated with good, valid questions I asked.

Was seen by him pre and post endoscope and colonoscopy. He was very short with his answers, almost sarcastic. At one point tells me everything is just fine. When I'm leaving I say to him that means I'm good for 10 years. Meaning that I'd follow ACS guidelines. He THEN tells me I need to be checked every 3 yrs. What you have needs to be checked more often. Two minutes prior I was told he found nothing!! Never was told what I had. Follow up with gastro. guy in next county great.

Dr. Bernheim was very thorough in gathering information on everything I had going on before deciding on a plan of action.

Dr. Bernheim has provided expert and friendly care to me for nearly 20 years. A good communicator, he has treated multiple family members and we all feel the same- we need more doctors like him!
