F Michael West Md's Online Review Report Card

This office seems to have some shady financial practices. Payment for a routine visit was approved by the insurance company but Dr West insisted I pay him upfront because he was too impatient to wait for the insurance payment confirmation. His office staff are rude. He has no bedside manner or empathy. I would not recommend this practice to anyone.

This doctor was hired by my disability provider, in my opinion for the sole purpose of denying my claim. Despite the doctors signing an affadavit to the contrary, I believe these reviews are inherently done in bad faith. Typically the insurance company has more than enough information to approve the claim, but hire doctors and pay them to tell them exactly what they want to hear - that they know better than my doctors despite never having met me, and that benefits are not warranted. I believe there is a clear and present conflict of interest, and that Dr. Cowl should be ashamed of himself because this isn't what he had in mind when he swore an oath to do no harm. He's done treacherous harm to my ability to feed my family for whatever this fee was. I'm not surprised. He has a 2.1 patient rating out of 5 so obviously he lost his way a long time ago.

Dr West is an exceptional physician. Technically skilled and also dedicated to the well being of his patients. Both my husband and I have had an ablation procedure by Dr West.

Terrible experience! K** is the rudest receptionist I have ever encountered. He canceled my appointment because he could not confirm my insurance, even though it is valid and I informed him of this. It is due to K**'s lack of effort and incompetence that I will not be able to see a doctor, and Dr. West's office is now liable.

He definitely doesn't know what he is doing. And won't listen to patient if anything I think he was racist as a Hispanic person I thought it was rude for him to ask me if I like beans and if I call my beans beaners and if all people from Mexico have bad teeth. I'm from Brazil. And I felt discriminated.

He lost his license for filling prescriptions (at least in my area, I don't know) and didn't tell me until I ran out of medication and was denied a refill. Now I'm out of medication and have to scramble to find another endocrinologist, and thus far everyone has at least a two month waiting list. I'm literally crying because of how scary and unfair that is.

I have seen Dr West twice but I agree he does not listen to his patients when they give their history. When I questioned him about lowering my dose of thyroid, he dismissed my concern as not important. I will stress I have been thyroid-dependent my whole life and should know how I feel when the dose is adjusted. I will get another opinion. He thinks he is above other people only because he has a Ph.D. Big deal.

I have had a couple visits with Dr. West. He's competent and I felt I was getting good care. His front desk person, Ken, who runs the practice has typically been kind of curt but responsive. I went for my lab work in advance of my follow up scheduled a few days out to find the office vacant with no notice of relocation. I never was notified of the move. I found someone from another office suite who informed me they moved but did not know where. I called the office to get a recording with the new address. Because the office was to close soon I Ubered over and called to alert the office to my situation. Ken was not sympathetic at all. He informed me I was emailed about the move (which I was not) and that the office was closing at 4:30 (5 minutes from then). I dashed up to the new office with a couple minutes to spare. The lab tech was ready to take me in. I interacted with Ken about the situation to which he stated, "I am not going to apologize." When I commented that this was poor customer service he withdrew the lab request from the tech and told me I would have to go elsewhere. I have written to Dr. West and the DC Board. Needless to say this is not my recommended endo office in DC.

Have to remind him of reason he recommended change in medicine or prescription in the first place and even to the point why I am returning to see him. Not impressed anymore and looking for new doctor. That said, very pleasant and nice individual. Unfortunately, not looking for a friend but a good doctor.

Only saw me for 5 minutes. Refused to Combined labs
