Dr Irving seemed kind & personable at first blush seemed to ask all the familiar questions with regards to allergies & pmhx. however I realized it was just a going through the motions type of thing. . ie I have shojrens which causes really dry mouth & eyes. esp once i came out of surg. Now mind you normally after surgeries I can usually got home or out & eat. ie after sinus surgery i went to outback & ate a steak & never took a single pain pill. Had no problem swollowing or with my vision. When I woke up from my hysterectomy. I could not swollow at all my throat felt as if it was inside out & could not open my eyes & my pain 10/10. The nurse said she saw no lube placed in my eyes. The anesthesiologist available came in & saw me & wanted to give me Tetracaine & actually had it in her hand. But some one called this dr back he said no just use Eryrthromycin ointment give it some time. Well after I discharged from surgery I went to ER..for tetracaine for eye pain 10/10.

Dr. Milburn is by far the best endocrinologist I have ever had. I was diagnosed with Type I diabetes when I was 16. I went to see Dr. Milburn when I was 21. I drove from Carrollton and Richardson to see him. I have never had a problem with him. I had two successful pregnancies with him and he really keeps up to date on the latest and greatest. He goes out of his way to help you and ensure that you are on the right track. He take his time and really know diabetes inside out.His office at Baylor closed last year and he went to the Veteran's hospital and I had to find a new doctor. It's almost a year later and I am still struggling to find a doctor as good as he was. Even though his office is closed I did not want the one bad review on this site to be seen by veterans. The person who wrote that review obviously had other issues.

Been a patient of Dr. Milburn for almost 12 years now. He is the best out there. I moved further away years ago but I still make the drive to Irving to see Dr. Milburn. I do not trust anybody else. He is very knowledgeable and really does not sugarcoat anything. I like his honesty. He understands that live is busy and that you have to find a way to juggle your work, life and health.

Do not ever go see Dr. Joseph Milburn, an endocrinologist in Irving. He is the single most unprofessional quack I've ever had the displeasure of giving money to. He refused to provide any medical treatment for me, whatsoever, when I visited his office today, refusing to even refill prescriptions I needed, as he had done in the past. When I complained to his medical assistant about the way he completely inappropriately bolted the exam room when I was trying to talk to him, she told me to go back in and wait and they'd take care of it. I waited for 20 minutes, Dr. Milburn came back into the room, and informed me that he was dismissing me from his practice. He said, "You need to find another doctor.""You need to find a lawyer," I replied.Then Dr. Milburn, all 5 ft. 6 in. of him, attempted to stare me down, getting right up in my face. I really thought he was going to take a swing at me. I told him off and left. Then I went to the front desk and asked for a refund, since he refused to provide any care and dismissed me from his practice when I complained about it. They told me to wait while they talked to the office manager. I waited, patiently, for about 15 minutes, then I noticed a uniformed, Baylor police officer standing slightly behind me in the waiting room, and he wasn't interested in talking to the receptionist while I waited for the office manager. The office manager comes out, says that they wouldn't give me a refund, because the doctor had seen me (and that's all he did...look at me). I told her that it would be well worth giving me a refund to keep me from spreading the word about Dr. Milburn's unprofessional and unethical conduct, but that if he liked his money so much, I'd gladly take it out on his business by letting everyone know exactly how he had behaved, today.I left without incident. I never even raised my voice the entire time, even though I was extremely upset with Dr. Milburn's fraudulent impersonation of an actual doctor who provides medical services to his patients. I carefully modulated my voice to make sure they had no cause to complain about anything I said or did. While I was waiting for the elevator, the police officer who was in the waiting room walked into the elevator lobby. "Did they call you up here because of me?" I asked with a disbelieving smile."Yes," he replied, shaking his head and returning his own look of amused disbelief, "They said you were being rude."I rolled my eyes, saying, "I didn't know that was illegal," and we both shared a good laugh. I noticed the officer's uniform said Baylor Health Care System on it, and I asked him about their jurisdiction, telling him I practiced criminal law. We had a nice, little conversation about how the Baylor police system is organized (they are part of the Baylor University system, but the officers in Dallas County are commissioned by the County and can exercise jurisdiction over any crime within 90 miles of a Baylor campus, FYI). I wished the officer a good afternoon, and he did the same. I have to congratulate the Baylor police for their friendliness and professionalism. I wish I could say the same for Dr. Milburn, but he is the most execrable excuse for a physician that I have ever encountered. If you see Dr. Milburn, I recommend you stop before he attempts to have you arrested for complaining to his medical assistant about his lack of professionalism. He apparently mistakes talking in an annoyingly patronizing pseudo-whisper for practicing medicine. If you ever need an endocrinologist, DO NOT go see Dr. Joseph Milburn, or you will literally be taking your life in your own hands, as he feels perfectly comfortable defrauding people out of money in the promise of providing medical services he then refuses to provide once he gets his precious cash. I do believe Dr. Joseph Milburn is the worst doctor in the entire DFW area.

I've been a patient with Dr. Milburn for over 10 years. I find him to be very knowledgeable, patient, and most thorough when diagnosing issues. He tells it like it is without being rude which I appreciate greatly. I want to know what I'm facing without the sugar coating. He does not leap to conclusions so if you're looking for a 'quickie' diagnosis that may not be reliable - look elsewhere. If you truly want help and are willing to do your part, this is the endo that you want to see.

I have been a patient of Dr. Milburn for about 7 years now. He is the best out there. He communicates through email as well, so if you can't come in, he is always available.I had 2 healthy baby's thanks to Dr. Milburn. I would not switch doctors in a million years!

He seems knowledgeable about diabetes, but not about other endocrine problems. I had to end up going to another endo to get help. His bedside manners are also severely lacking(very rude and condescending). I would not recommend this doctor.
