Giving a 1 star is too generous. This rating is for 3 years ago when I was severely ill. I had been a patient of his for a few years. His methods are quirky. I began experiencing chronic Vertigo, muscle spasms, stomach cramping/burning and trouble breathing that got so severe I couldn't eat. My symptoms caused sleep deprivation. I felt as if my body was shutting down. I went to his office many times for these ongoing symptoms. He was quick to give me multiple prescriptions for my symptoms, but not at all wanting to get to the bottom of the cause. (Which surprises me coming from a D.O.) He claimed it was anxiety and even went as far as to tell me I was having mental issues. He was very unprofessional in the way he spoke to me on my last visit, I was humiliated. His demeanor is unacceptable. I left his office and never returned. A great Doctor at an urgent care I had been to several times. Decided to run some blood tests for me and low and behold... gave me a diagnosis. I was able to find a new and compassionate Doctor, started a treatment plan and am receiving the care I deserve as a human being. I am feeling physically good, but traumatized from the experience.
The doctor may be "great" in some opinions, but their office staff is the rudest must unprofessional staff, beyond any stretch of the imagination. I was in their office for an appointment 2 weeks ago, and the attitude of the office manager to a sales rep or insurance rep, not sure, was very bad. Seems she didn't like what was being said to her, and you could hear her screaming at them across the building! If they are going to treat other professions like that, how do you think they will treat the patients? NEVER going back to that office. I felt bad for them. One of them left with the office manager still screaming at her. I don't care if a doctor is the best in the world, dealing with his staff is NOT WORTH IT
DR is fine, but.... Never, ever, have I consistently been treated with such utter disrespect and blatant rudeness as I have by the office staff at Desert Valley Family Medicine. I've been a patient (multiple visits, about two years) at both the Ocotillo location and the office on Dobson. Each and every time I visited or had to contact either office I was met with completely indignant, unprofessional, miserable representatives who clearly had no regard for customer service or compassion. When someone is sick, or is seeking health care, the last thing they need is to be met with the challenge of dealing with a "difficult" office staff. How dare these people treat patients this way! I don't know if they are simply unhappy with their work environment or untrained in CRM, but I can honestly say that I have never encountered a more unpleasant group of people.
Pretty disappointed: evaluated for rash by biopsy, told not an issue; no diagnosis, no medicine, no cure. Got script for Celebrex, insurance asked for justification, office response was too mush work, changes prescription to ibuprofen. Son had insurance probelm, i took care of it and asked their biz office to call to verify - too busy, would wait for letter... Enough, changed Docs.
He was very professional and took a lot of time to go over lab results. I am very pleased with Dr. Laven and would refer him to my friends.
Not an automated office and staff has great difficulty getting test results back. In out case, devastating results.
more interested in business than medicine; had to go to another MD, finally got needed test and tretment.
the dr. is very personable and really seems to care.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
