I am 60 years old and was diagnosed with epilepsy a few years ago by Dr Karcher in the ER at OSH after arriving there in an ambulance after passing out in public. Being my age, he could not believe I had gone so long without help, after he looked at a cat scan and found serious lesions and long term damage on my brain. I went home and was then prescribed Trileptal by a GP. I tried it for a few days twice and it made me vomit both times! I know for sure there are many other antiseizure meds avaiable and lack of money is not an issue for me.Trileptal makes them the most money so thats why they push it over the others! I then went to Dr Karcher's office because of his specific profession and told his nurse I can not take Trileptal and that I needed a different antiseizure medicine. After a long wait she gave me yet another prescription for Trileptal regardless of what I had to say, then she told me to take it or they would have my drivers liscense suspended!! Dr Karcher may be good, but his nurse stopped me from seeing him and getting the help that I so despirately needed then and still need now. My new plan is to get my original cat scans from the x-ray dept at OSH that were taken a few years ago, then show them to another specialist doctor who accepts medicare, if I can find one. I then need to get another cat scan so we can make a compairitive analysis and look for any changes or progression. I have not had seizures in a long while but I have other symptoms of brain lesions that need to be addressed. His office has failed me miserably! I wish I had help with this. I do not know where to look for help.

Relaxing environment, wonderfully friendly staff, and Dr Karcher is a physician who truly cares about and takes the necessary time with his patients.

He and his entire staff are efficient and pleasant. He has done 2 occipital nerve blocks which have relieved my chronic migraines immediately and saved me an ER visit.

I must admit I was very nervous when I had to find a new doctor. Thankfully Dr. Karcher, and staff are great. Most doctors you have to wait nearly an hour to be seen only to be in, and out in 5 minutes, and normally no better off than before you arrived. This is not the case with Dr Karcher. I have never waited to be seen longer than 5-10 minutes at most. Dr Karcher listens to all concerns, and makes sure all questions are answered before I leave. If you're looking for a doctor who actually cares the list is short, but Dr. Karcher is at the very top.
