List of Andrew Blackman's Reviews
3 year follow up to my earlier review of Dr. Blackman. My original review was listed as "Town & Country, MO – Dec 18, 2018" Dr. Blackman did rotator cuff surgery on me when I was 70 years old and one of my rotator cuff tendons had a complete tear. It has been three years and the arm that had surgery is fully functional and better than the arm that didn't have surgery.
He took out my right burttis and that was not the problem worst doctor ever I am glad he is gone
Outstanding Surgeon! He Spent all the time you needed both before the rotator cuff and and after the surgery by telling you what to expect and what he was planning on doing. Explained everything and he never looked like he was rushed to leave you. Plus his surgery must have been good, as I progressed well ahead of schedule.
I fell in a parking lot and assumed I had broken my arm since I could not raise it above my waist. Was able to see the doctor's physician assistant that same day (I was not a previous patient) and X-rays were taken in the office. That evening an MRI was taken that showed I needed surgery for a torn rotator cuff. One week later surgery was performed. Now 12 weeks after surgery everything seems back to normal and I am working on regaining full strength in that arm.
I have been trying for nearly a week to get the doctor to call me back with my MRI results but no one in the office ever calls. I keep calling them and each time I’m told that the doctor is with a patient and they will give him a message to call me. Still waiting.
Almost 2 years after shoulder surgery and then revision surgery a few months later I am still in quite a lot of pain, cannot lie on my shoulder and limited range of motion. Obviously my first review was premature & not based on my recovery progress—just initial impressiion. During my my last 3 follow up visits I always heard the same “we tried physical therapy and this is the maximum medical improvement you will have. I feel like he gave up on me.
Dr Blackman is great! From the time we started with him for my daughters issues(past and present) he was very nice , easy to talk to, very friendly. He understood what we were looking for and gave us options for treatment. He explains things very well and takes time with you. Would recommend him to anyone ! His staff is very nice as well.
My knee surgery was done by now retired Dr. Sedgwick. Dr. Andrew did my 3 yr check up. All good. Then, I was having severe hip area pain-thought it was sciatica, made an appt, and went to see him. His assistant came in, examined me-then Dr. A came in. Barely looked at me, just the paperwork, wrote me an RX, sent me to PT and told me if it continued-he could send me to a pain management Dr. IF he doesn't want to look at sciatica patients-the front desk should have told me. Worse-my PT person was stunned he took no x-rays, and the PT made things worse. This was in May. I went to my internist, who did take x-rays. The pain went away on it's own-but then came back. Saw my internist, who ordered an MRI-and it seems I have a cyst along my spine, blah, blah, which is causing severe nerve pain. I LOVED Dr. Sedgwick, and I won't be going back to Dr. Andrew again. He is uncaring, not thorough, and I am still blown away by the lack of real interest he showed.
This office is filled with dedicated, organized people. I have had two shoulder surgeries in the past six months, and my experience was totally different with each. With Dr. Blackman and Ryan Vallo, I had courteous, thorough, efficient, and totally professional encounters. My previous doctor never seemed to know who I was, which shoulder he operated on, and left me wondering how I could understand what to do to care for my shoulder after surgery. With Blackman and Vallo, I always felt they knew who I was and were never too busy to answer questions and explain procedures, follow-ups, etc. The are respectful of their patients' time and treat everyone kindly. No one wants surgery, but if surgery could be a pleasure, this was it. I really appreciated the care I received!
Dr. Blackman's office staff is really friendly and helpful. I primarily worked with Robin and Ryan, both excellent members of the staff. The office is very clean with good lighting. The only downside is that I have only seen the doctor on my initial visit, after my surgery I have worked with his second in command. It would have been nice to visit with him directly post-op. Outside of this, I've been pretty satisfied with the staff; they return FMLA papers in a timely manner & are very responsive

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
