List of Richard Ellenbogen Md's Reviews
I often think about that time in 2019 when I was flown over to an ER in Seattle days after the birth of my son (my first child) when my body and mind could no longer handle the blockage being caused by a benign tumor the size of a gumball next to my pineal gland. I remember quite well, considering the circumstances, a good portion of the long journey. Dr.Ellenbogen managed to get that tumor out piece by piece (I obviously don’t remember that part). After that I was sent back home and I legitimately had no idea who I was, but it only took me a couple of weeks to remember language, my mom, son and best friend. It was very strange how my memories came back together so out of order but it only took a few months to be completely functional again and although I still had memories returning to me left and right I was able to actually start retaining some new ones and managed to find myself a real line of work and straighten out a lot of other things in my life that weren’t quite right prior.
The visit felt rushed. Dr. Ellenbogen didn’t answer the majority of my questions. He treated me unfairly when he learned my health coverage was out of network. His bedside manner needs a lot of improvement. His knowledge of spinal cords and surgeries he’s performed was helpful.
I received a botched nose job from Dr. Ellenbogen in September 2019. I paid $9,500 and as you can see from the before and after pictures, there is very little change and it looks nothing like the simulated after pictures he created for me. He said he was going to raise the rim of my nostril, make the tip smaller, narrower, and less round, narrow and straighten the bridge, and raise the starting point of my nose to where my top lashes are. I knew as soon as he removed the splint that something was wrong with the bridge of my nose. It was wider than before my procedure and I felt a strange pressure and a divot. I went to him a month after the procedure and he put filler in my nose and said everything was fine. I went to him 6 month later because my nose still looked very wide and the bridge was dented and bumpy. He gave me steroids and said everything was fine. 2 months later, without informing me, he retired. I cannot get in touch with him. I went to a different surgeon for a revision consultation. He took one look at my nose and felt it and said the bone had split in the bridge. Dr. Ellenbogen knew this and did not tell me. Now I have to pay $10,000 to fix what he did. It appears as though he did nothing to alter my nose and instead just botched the bridge. I thought I was doing the right thing by going to a renowned surgeon. This man is sloppy and and decrepit and deceitful and I deeply regret getting rhinoplasty with him. Aside from giving me a botched nose job, Dr. Ellenbogen is an unprofessional, dirty old man. He made many comments saying he would have dated me if he was younger. He showed me pictures of his assistant Leslie's breast augmentation while she wasn't there. He told me his wife Heather, who is also his office manager, was "good in the sack." I should have known better but I thought he was supposed to be the best. He told me many stories of how great he was, how he was going to fix Michael Jackson's nose. I guess he was just bankrupt and wanted to rip as many innocent people off as he could before retiring. Just looking at the before and after pictures drives me crazy! It is hard to see any difference at all, especially for $9,500! I wish there was anything I could do to get compensation.
He saved my life 25 years ago, when I was 14. I had a tumor dissolve my 7th vertebrae. He took part of my hip and made me a new one. I now have three beautiful children and work as a nurse. Thank you and your team at Walter Reed for saving me and giving me another chance at life.
I went to Dr. Ellenbogen to get rid of a double chin. I know now that I could've gotten a more simple procedure (probably just lipo), but of course he made me feel bad about many other areas of my face and made [false] promises about what a chin implant would do for me. I got the chin implant, but it's not placed correctly so it's uneven and a little painful on one side. Additionally, one issue that he told me the chin implant would resolve (chin dimpling due to an overactive mentalis muscle) has actually gotten WORSE. I've found a different plastic surgeon to work with and might have to have the chin implant removed and possibly reinserted at a later date. This is an expensive nightmare. He's a nice guy and his office staff is nice, but if I could do it over, I would go to someone else.
Dr E pays marketers to remove these posting. You can see all the removed reviews. WARNING: Do not let what happened to my niece happen to niece came in for a breast augmentation with Dr. Ellenbogen. When we met with Dr. Ellenbogen, he was very charismatic and explained how he could do the breast augmentation no problem. He proceeded to tell us how he did all the breast augmentations for Playboy and he was there go to guy. Given his years of experience and his confidence, we decided to go with Dr. Ellenbogen and this were everything went wrong... After the augmentation, my niece's left breast started healing in a deformed way. We immediately voiced our concerns to Dr. Ellenbogen. He kept saying not to worry about it. So we scheduled a revision and post-surgery, Dr. Ellenbogen admitted he found a suture that developed scar tissue. When asked how that happened, he said that he didn't know. Odd aren't doctor suppose to know?Well guess what, the revision didn't fix it. So we went back to Dr. Ellenbogen to address this issue. We confronted him about the suture and about his practices. We knew we did not want Dr. Ellenbogen to do another revision. Instead, all we wanted was for him to refund us the cost of a revision so can go to another doctor. We felt that this was THE LEAST he could do given all circumstances. And he responded back by calling us liars and kicking us out of his office. When we tried to reach him, he said we "waited too long" and stopped answering our calls. It is sad that I have to talk about my niece's story publicly but I can no longer stand this man and his treatment of his patients. Nor would I have a good conscious knowing this man may be doing this to other people. My niece has had to deal with a deformed breast for years. It has hurt her and she is embarrassed by it. THAT IS HEARTBREAKING and it all because of this AWFUL PERSON and his AWFUL PRACTICE. He clearly only cares about money. Now, we have to work on saving up to cover the cost of this revision because this person will not take any responsibility for it. It is so sad. Dr. Ellenbogen is the true definition of a EVIL MAN. Please save your time, money and body. Don't let what happened to us, happen to you. Consider yourself warned.Oh and that "painting" that he claims to have painted. It is a lie. It is not his. It is from another painter, Helleu. You can buy it here....
Outstanding!!!! If I could give 10 stars I would. Had the pleasure of knowing Dr Rich while he was still on Army active duty at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He truly cares for his patients and their families. He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and expertise to each encounter. His Moto is do no harm and lives it everyday. Thanks for taking care of Becky
Dr. Richard Ellenbogen is the worst! STAY AWAY!! I went to him for a surgery and he botched it. This doctor could care less about his patients. And with time, he has only gotten more worse and desperate!
Dr. Ellenbogen is great! Went in for a breast augmentation, the process was fast and easy. I had very little post op discomfort and minimal bruising & swelling. I'm extremely happy with the results! The office staff, especially Heather & Mallory, were friendly, worked with my schedule, & made the process so easy. I would definitely recommend Dr Ellenbogen!
Dr. Ellenbogen is a fantastic surgeon! What an amazing experience. Dr. Ellenbogen is highly knowledgeable and genuinely cares about his patients. I needed breast implant surgery. The procedure went beautifully and my scarring is minimal. I am so happy with the results. I couldn't be happier, and would highly recommend Dr. Ellenbogen!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
