List of Wakemed Physical Therapy's Reviews
My PT was Miriam Loughry and she was outstanding. I cannot say enough about how much she helped me. Wake Med is fortunate to have her and I benefitted greatly from her knowledge and experience. The front desk people, Jodie and Yvette were always friendly, helpful and happy. My overall experience was the best. Thanks to everyone!
Last Fall for no reason my lower back went out while I was waiting to have major surgery for diverticulitis. During that surgery the position I was in, put a huge strain on my hip and back. The surgery went well but my back and hip were so painful all I could do was walk in the pool at Cambridge Fitness and even that hurt. Luckily for me Wake Med has a Physical Therapy office there. My doctor referred me for physical therapy and I started seeing Meredith K. I have other health issues and she was so patient and caring. My first few visits I couldn't get off the PT table by myself because of the pain. I think it has been about 4 months and we just finished up. I am walking 2-4 miles a day, I have exercises I continue to do at home, a small workout routine at the fitness center and the confidence to continue strengthening my core. I feel very proud of myself but I couldn't have done it without Meredith K. Wake Med is fortunate to have her on their Team.
I've been working with Kris Wolfe on balance and stability. I don't like to exercise, but Kris's gentle persistence kept me going through my therapy. My balance and strength has improved greatly. Now all I have to do is somehow keep up my exercise without her!
I've been working with Kris Wolfe for my advanced Parkinsonism. She is fantastic to work with...motivating, thorough, and compassionate. I highly recommend this Physical Therapist!
I worked with Melissa Bieber, PT for over 6 months. We worked on strengthening my shoulder, back, and core. Melissa has done so much for me that my doctors could not. Her assessment skills are advanced and she was able to detect underlying medical conditions that were causing my chronic pain! Afterwards, we were able to manage the pain with the appropriate treatment plan. She is extremely organized and provides me printed out handouts of my workouts with visuals and instructions. I am so grateful for my WakeMed family, as I feel like I got my life back. Thank you so much! Staff: I want to give a shout out to Carma and Jillian at the front desk for their welcoming smiles and humor. Everyone has been very kind. Sometimes, I bring a family member or friend, and staff has accommodated them. Facility and Environment: The facility has efficient gym equipment and bands for everyone's needs. They have a private room for initial evaluations, but most of the facility is an open concept where you work one-on-one with your PT. Sometimes, I am in the facility by myself when I schedule late afternoon sessions near closing time, but if you are scheduled during other times, you could be one of maybe up to 5 patients dispersed in the area. There is enough space for you and staff. The facility is also very convenient because my Orthopedic doctor is located across the hall, and my PCP is located upstairs. Building: The facility is connected to the WakeMed North Hospital building, but at the back side. When facing the front of the hospital, drive to the building's right side and turn the SECOND LEFT for the main entrance. (The first left is an oval parking lot mainly for Wake Orthopedics or for Physician's Practices visits. You'll be confused if you park here for your first visit.) The main entrance has a semi-circular drop-off area which is great for wheelchair access. There should be a sign on the sliding doors that say something like, "WakeMed Physical Therapy and Rehab." When you walk through these sliding doors, go past the restrooms, and the door is at the end of the hallway, to the right. If you cannot find parking in the open lot, there is a parking deck diagonal to the entrance, but there's always free parking spots around the back of the building. If you ever get hungry after your appointment, you can go to the WakeMed Cafeteria for a bite. They serve great lattes at the coffee bar, too.
Chris Billiar was terrible. I spent months in PT with him and he tells me I "plateaued". I went to PT for one issue and another issue came up with new orders for more PT. He refused doctors orders. He even contacted the doctor without my permission to try and cancel the order. But the doctor office just sent me the prescription since Chris was so difficult. He just acted like he didn't want to be there or do his job. He did the bare minimum. When things didn't work, he didn't try different things to find what did work. He ignored complaints about pain. The exercises he gave me didn't even address the real issue. I ended up going to another physical therapy office and they have been great! In just a few weeks, I've improved quite a bit. It's amazing what a difference a GOOD and competent Physical Therapist makes. The lie Chris told about a "plateau" was certainly not true. I strongly discourage anyone from using this facility or Chris Billiar.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
